The problem is i dont and i cant. Im 19 years old and i just started getting into mechanics a few months ago. Ill have my dads friend do the swap for me but i will be watching closely learning as much as i can.
So whats my best way to go? I want a 7m turbo 5 speed swapped into mine. Cause my motor is a nonturbo automatic so i have no plan on doing anything with it.
Also, if i did swap the motor. is it a lot of work putting an egr in to make it pass smog? or would it still not pass after that?
Very nice looking car. I blew the headgasket to hell on my 87 na and i was looking to get a new Tigerjapanese engine. Hows that engine holding up for you?

Hey all. I have an 87 N/a Auto tranny supra... bascially the grannymobile. I blew a headgasket and im looking into swapping the motor and tranny to a turbo 5speed 7m. Reason being is i have been told since i have milkshake in the oil the engine is likely to produce rodknock soon. So.... Few...
Found a site that has a graphite head gasket kit with arp studbolts, if i have the head resurfaced, head gasket installed and i do a couple oil changes to get out the gunk is there still a big chance of rod knock from contamination?
also what are the chances of a cracked head? and a solution...
ok i know exactly what your talking about. Say i buy a whole kit to replace the headgasket and i get the head machined and flush out the oil and coolant to get the contaminats out. Is that all that would need to be done to complete the job? I have milkshake in the oil so and also got some on...
Couldnt have asked for a better response lol. Say i stick with my old motor for a bit so i can pull mor emoney together to go all out? Its a blown headgasket, so i need to have head machined, metal gasket replaced and i can stick with normal head bolts correct? just torque them down to 73. Oil...

As a beginner i do realize this is going to be a B*tch and a half to accomplish. I need to know what Tools im guuna need to do the job correctly and Most of all i was hoping somebody could recomend a brand of head gasket that they had no trouble with. Last thing i wanna do is get something thats...
