Which strut bar would you use?

Alright ive come to a difficult decision as to which strut bar I should use. Im stuck between the Cusco Aluminum/Carbon Fiber bar for $160 or the TRD Strut bar from Toyota for $160.

i've heard that you have to modefy your hood somehow to use the trd strut bar.

I think you might just have to cut out some of the bracing on the underside of the hood. Im alright with doing that. For the most part im just trying to figure out which looks better. They will both function the same.

If you turn it 180 degrees it bolts right up, if I recall correctly. But TRD is upside down

you can chop the bracket off and re-weld it on to make it lower.

So in order to use the TRD bar, you have to turn it 180 degrees? Do you have to modify the hood at all or was I correct earlier in saying you have to remove some of the hood bracing?

yep direct bolt on. but needs modification to the hood.

Neither the TRD or Cusco does anything on our cars. (We do not have a typcial strut front suspension, so there is nothing to be gained.)

If you want to make some gains, you need to tie the strut towers to the fire wall/cowl area. (That will make a large difference in how much the vehicle flexes.)

The TRD bar does NOT bolt on, no matter which way you turn it. It requires a good amount of cutting/welding/repowdercoating. It's really not worth it, just get the cusco bar and enjoy putting it on in five minutes.

The Cusco is designed for the MK3, the TRD is not. Get the Cusco, end of story.
