I haven't, unless I've got one hidden somewhere. I was thinking of using composite as well since I'm not trying to do anything crazy with this one. How much did it run you?

Got my head off, fixing a blown head gasket with little to no mechanical experience :D
Welcome to the club. Six years ago, I was in your shoes sir, I knew a little about working on cars, like changing tires, spark plugs, and had recently replaced the water pump on my old TE72 Corolla... then dove head first into the Mk3 world with only basic tools and knowledge. The post below says quite a lot that will help.

Trust me, if you take the time to read and learn how the search engine works, this site will turn you into a pretty good shade tree mechanic in time. I'd feel perfectly comfortable tearing a car apart and reassembling it for the most part these days...

No problem, just take your time and I hope you replace every gasket you come across oh and it's good to replace the EGR cooler gasket with a metal one and triple check everything and label your nuts and bolts like crazy I went through at least 40 ziplock bags that were marked and even drew a little picture of where they went it really helped A LOT.
Like I said, this guy has the right idea. Much easier to replace gaskets when they're easy to get to and you're already working in the area... :)

Put my coilovers on.

And found rock hard proof that she has a bhg. :( time for some upgrades!
That's about how my car looked when I first put the Stance coilovers on. Drove it around for a couple days for fun, raised it back up when I realized that I was within a few mm of the curb height going into my driveway... you gonna leave your car that low?

I finally received my digital caliper in the mail today! Tomorrow I will begin measuring the head and the block so that I can calculate the right size head gasket. Finally another step towards completion!

not so much what I did today, but through out the month: finished rebuilding my CPS, almost done putting my 7M back together, put money down on RonnieK rear subframe bushings and a set of HKS Hipermax 2s, straight from Japan. I really need to update my build thread.

Took my engine off of the engine stand for the first time in 2-3 years... :D slapped the transmission on and made sure all the screws/bolts/etc were down tight.

now to get the car in the garage and figure out this wiring mess.

What the tits does that switch do?

After payday I am going to order some parts to get my MK3 running without a tiny coolant leak and replacing the turbo inlet hose with a silicone one and maybe some goodies but right now I gotta do some maintenance work on her.
