I have Monroe hood struts at first they were great I barely lifted the hood and it opened itself but now it opens halfway and I gotta push to open it fully. My friend has Strongarm hood struts on his GS300 and they are great I might be switching to those for both the hood and hatch.

I have the Strongarm ones I'm pretty sure and I have to push my hood open now, three years later. They are still a lot cheaper than the Toyota ones for sure though.

just a standard alternator swap. thank the toyota god for voltmeters. seriously. I bought the alternator 3-4 months in advance cause I noticed voltage was low (.5 volts), and was able to make it home when it finally gave out. stock boost gauges are useless anyhow.

Alt. looks kinda melted tho ,':-|

I spent the morning working on the new 3000 pipe

I cut two pipes to make 1, welded them up, prime, fill, sand, and paint. Now they are going in the oven. Then I can finish polishing the top. Tomorrow I will shoot it with a couple coats of clear and it will be ready for the new engine.

Really glad to be rid of the bottle neck in the charge pipe !

LOOKS AWESOME...did you use a stencil to paint the numbers? and what kind of paint is that to get that powdercoated look?

The paint is VHT wrinkle finish. To get the numbers to show up I masked off the black part and sprayed 6 coats of duplicolor red engine paint over the whole top part (numbers and the polished part). Waited about 4 hours for the paint to get really close to dry and I used about a 6 of the good blue shop paper towels with just a touch paint thinner to remove the red paint. I used a hard rubber sanding block to back the towel making 3 or 4 passes then move to a clean spot on the towel. You have to be very skimpy with the paint thinner and keep the towel pulled tight because if the thinner touches the recessed part of the number you will be stripping it off and doing it again. You have to bake the black to cure the paint. Thanks for the compliment.

I tried sanding once before. The dust and polishing compound stained the paint and it did not come out as well. The red was dingy. There are a number of ways to get the same effect. This one worked good for me.

what are your wheel and tire specs?

Wheels are;
FR500 replica's(just got em)
18x9 +30 / 18x10 +40
235/40/18 / 265/35/18
Rears fit nicely, fronts are gonna have to be cambered a bit, because 30 offset seems too aggressive.
