I think I read before that the last numbers on the VIN are the order in which the car was built. I am just curious because the last numbers on my 86.5 are 1544. Does anyone know if this means it is the 1544th MK3 built? And if so, was this the 1544th one shipped to the U.S., or 1544th overall? It was built in January of 86.

It means its the 1,544th MA70 car/chassis built over all. I believe they made 162,455 MA70's so your car is 1,544 out of 162,455

nice, my girl's 86.5 was 24,193, and I thought that was low..
