You could build an A-frame out of 6x6 lumber... but I'd recommend renting a hoist because I hear falling engines aren't good for your health.

You could rent one for a day for about 30, or the week for under a 100 easy.
I think I've seen them to buy for around 200-250 with Levelers.
It's worth it.

This post is hilarious!!!! Harbor freight i think sells em pretty cheap...by the time you go buy 2x4 and nails and build the A frame the time spent is not even worth it. Or if your good at welding just cut the front half of your car off then re-weld later.

Seriously... I bought mine 5 years ago for $150. It's pulled at least 12 engines so far, including several 7M's and a 7.3L powerstroke a couple times.

They're worth the money.

bought mine for $100 canadian

if you are going through the trouble of decking head and block for mhg... why not just save yourself trouble and get a crane... cheap easy and safer than any other way...

Got mine new for $120, its a torrin big red from pep boys. Been outside for almost 5 years and it still works. If you cant afford that find a used one on craigslist. You will spend more than that if your cheap ass contraption fails and smashes your front end.

Harbor Freight has them for $150 dollars . Go buy one use it to take out the engine then return it with in 30 days. Tell them that its DEFECTIVE hint hint and get your 150 back. Dont loose the ticket. Good luck
