"safe" numbers for 7M-GTE internals

So, through much debate and even the sane-ness of my wife on keeping the 7M or doign a JZ, I'm going down the 7M route. About 3 months ago, I spun a bearing in my 7M and now debating on doing a rebuild with stock or forged internals. I'm trying to do pros and cons and wanted to know what are the "safe" numbers that the stock internals can handle?

JZ swap. Be happy. My thread will help you get it done without any hassel, it's in my signature.

Always trying to convert everyone lol..

Anyway if you are staying 7M just be prepared and smart and you will be fine.

Mine on stock internals (150,000+ miles) has seen 18psi on a 60-1 CT26 without issue. also stock HG with ARP STUDS (at least 400hp)

I second the jz. Less hassle and more worry free driving. If something breaks its more of a what happened than a what now.

But to answer question the pistons can handle 500 as long as you have a good tune. Like at 500 you better have a standalone. Rods can handle more as there forged.

I'd agree with everything here except the 'easy' part. Labelling them easy tends to make folks assume they are as forgiving as a small block chevy, and they absolutely are not.

Cheap: No, not really.
Easy: To get parts, okay that's true, not as easy to do it.

7M on stock internals (bottom end) with over 120k miles pushing over 400rwhp with 550cc injectors and HKS piggyback stuff. 18 years with this car, all on same bottom end and run hard since first purchased. Ran original CT w/HKS stuff, then two different H3 trim hybrids (about 58mm) then a 64mm Boss Sr. for a year and now a 67mm T04z. All same motor (bottom end) with a worked head and piggy back stuff and the car runs great.

It's mostly about balance, patience and NOT getting too greedy.;)

G/L!

400HP out of a 1JZ is much much easier than a 7M

How so? Because Toyota fit later engines (not just the JZ) with a MHG? You still have to do a swap, and 400 doesn't need a MHG.

The 7M would need things like its ignition system addressed.

How so?
