Removing a stock CT-26 / Re-installing a 57-trim

I am going to send my turbo to Albert so he can turn it into a 57 trim CT-26. I have been calling around to many different shops here in San Diego and some places won't take my turbo out because they cannot warranty it or some places want way too much to do the job.

Is removing/re-installing a CT-26 a fairly simple and straightforward job?

Thanks!

Easier to remove and install the turbo with the oil lines still bolted to the turbo iirc.

Try not to flex the oil pipe if you can. It can be a pain to put back, but not impossible. Do as hvyman said and leave it bolted to the turbo til it's out of the car. Top right (I believe) bolt to the manifold will not be accessible with a socket. Shouldn't be a difficult job for a mechanic.

Nothing surprising, but the hard lines are a pain to deal with. Soft line kit from Aaron @ Driftmotion would make the job easier. I'll be replacing my hardlines next time I take the turbo off.

A ratcheting flex head wrench makes life a LOT easier when doing this.

I sent the turbo off to Albert for a 57 trim upgrade.

The shaft seemed pretty loose to me. Here are some pics of it.

That's actually one of the cleanest CT's I've seen. Usually the compressor wheel is nicked all to hell.

Yea, I'm impressed too.

There's a soft line kit from Driftmotion? Awesome thanks guys, I love clicking on random threads :)

So I received the 57 trim back from Albert. It looks like excellent work. The shaft feels very precise and the wheel has been clipped. I did notice that the rubber hose/clips that was attached to the turbo is missing. (The connecting hose that can be seen in the pic on page 1 of this thread). I suppose I can just go pick that up at AutoZone or something. Here are some picks of the new turbo and the widemouth downpipe from Driftmotion. Looks like a good fit so hopefully all the gaskets and copper spray etc etc holds well on install.

Supra is back up and running, and man that 57 trim/DP combo makes a really nice difference.
