Two steps forward, one step back...

I installed the heater core box and crash bar tonight. If I have time tomorrow, I will run all the wiring for the MAFT pro, boost solenoid and both PLX boxes.
Then I can install the dash and gauge cluster.

Unforunately, I tried to install the Bosch O2 sensor at the lower DP bung, and realized very quickly that it was never going to fit.
The bung was welded in too much vertically, and the floor pan interferes directly with it. So it looks like the DP will once again be coming out of the car,
so that the bung can be re-welded a little down the side of the piping.

You can put it next to the other o2. As I assume your talking about the wideband. It will see a bit more heat and might not last as long but should still last years.

Yes, I can cap the lower, and put the wideband next to the stock O2, but it would bug me that I took the shortcut.
Who knows- I may very well do just that...

Ive got my wideband about that close, maybe another 5cm further away from the turbine housing, been daily driving for over a year without a problem.

Thanks, PhxBlue...I hope so.

Today, I did just a bit of coolant system work, installing the shroud, fan and aux fans.
I wanted to fill it up with coolant, but I'm missing a couple of clamps for the hoses, so I'm waiting for those to arrive.
Then I got busy with some electrical- wiring up both PLX units- wideband and boost/vac.

Went back into the garage tonight, and got a few more things done.
I extended the boost solenoid, IAT and temp/oil pressure warning harnesses, and ran them through the firewall.
Then I installed the turbo blanket. I may have to get a smaller charcoal cannister, though.

Same issue in mine... No room for the charcoal canister. Waiting until the car is complete and then finding a suitable replacement, put a temp filter on the end of the line from the tank for now.

I'm gonna go to the junkyard this week, and see what cars had smaller cannisters, that use a similar setup to the Supra.
If I find anything useful, I'll post it for ya.

Toyota's from same vintage may be a good source. I managed to source one from a JZA70 years back. I'm always perplexed why the CC for the JZA70 is rather "PUNY" compared to the MA70.

I'd heard that JZA70's were a good source for smaller CC's, but there's not alot of those in my junkyards...:)
Hoping some early 90's USDM Toyotas came with similar sizes, though.

You can use what ever cc you want but it has to be a 3 way I think. As long as it's same style as 7m and jza70 it's fine.

Finished all the wire routing that I think I need to do.
I think it's time to go down to the basement and grab the dash...

So, I didn't bother with the dash today, afterall.
I decided that I want to fill the cooling system first, and pressure test it, before I make the heater core entirely inaccessible. :)
Instead, I did a bit more work to the intercooler system. Needed to create mounts for it.

Drilled and tapped the bumper.
p1993263_1.jpg

Added some threaded rod.

And made the mount.

I did a quick comparison of nose braces tonight.
I knew they were different between -89 and 89+, I just didn't know how. So here ya go.

'88 in black, '89+ in teal.
p1993472_1.jpg

Here's where the differences lie-middlepoint on each side.

Then I finally filled the PS system with Dexron VI, at the suggestion of Orion Zygarian. No leaks so far, yay.
I also finalized my IC install, and created the lower brackets. It's rock solid now.

p1993474_1.jpg

I even threw the front bumper cover on, just to see where the lower edge would be in relation to the IC. It looks like it'll be flush with the bottom of the front lip, once it's installed.

p1993474_2.jpg

Now I'm waiting on various types of clamps to arrive. Once they do, I will add the final liquid to the engine- coolant. Then I can check for leaks on that.
If all is good, the dash goes in, the MAFT gets connected, and I might actually make the car roll out of the garage under it's own power.
