well for a little while now I figured my drive shaft support bearing was toast but after closer inspection it seems to have been replaced already.... Rubber looks to be in great shape and the metal looks some what new and not weathered...
So I started shakeing things around and noticed that where the drive shaft slips into the ass of the transmission there is alot of side to side play... I'm pretty sure that's not right LOL!
Issues:
1. Driveshaft gets hot to the touch after a short period of driveing
2. Once over 45mph I get a bad humming (very loud)
3. Alot of vibration throught the car and definetly in the stick
4. At 60 mph its just scary... Only pushed it once to test
5. When rolling to a stop with clutch out I can't hear faint grinding noise but not gears grinding
6. Bran spanking new tires on all 4 corners and suspension feels fine
7. Trans leaks out of rear seal
So this is a w58 trans and I'm wondering has any of you had this happen...and is this as simple as getting a new bearing that goes in the tail of the trans or is there more then one bearing...I also heard something about a babbot bearing don't really know whats inside the tail of these transmissions.
So basicly I'm asking what parts should I get or is toyota gonna rape me so bad that I may be better off getting another trans?
Glad I found my problem the day before I was gonna get a solid drive shaft!
