There is a guy over here in the Atlanta area selling a 1JZ block, 2JZ head, and a 2JZ ECU etc.. Basically everything needed for a 1JZ/2JZ frankenmotor MK3. But my question is are any of you guys running this swap, and have you heard of running a 1JZ with a 2JZ ECU? And for you 1JZ and 2JZ people, how realiable (more so livable) are they as a daily driver?

No. Has to either have a patch harness or a 2jz harness. Engine side of the harness is pretty much the same for the engine to run.

Im actually getting ready to do the same thing on my 1j. My 1j harness is in good shape and my ecu has just been re-caped by DM but according to my mechanic the 2j stuff is just plain better. I went with USDM TT harness and ecu.

Well I just bought a new harness from tweakd, so I think my harness is up to the job, but all I'll need is a adaptor harness and I can plug up a 2J ECU? Would that keep me from needin all the piggyback stuff? Or do they make an aftermarket ECU like the blitz access/mines?

I think it needs to be the other way around to work, 2J block and 1J heads... Or am I high?

1jz block and 2j head would still be 2.5L, you're not getting any extra displacement but you are getting a head that flows slightly better.

If the price is right, I would think your still okay, just not "as good"?

Even though I love the 7M (cause Im stuck with it.. lol), I am so jealous of you guys doing these...

Performance wise, where would you say it sits?

I have a 1J head with 264 cams (stock everything else) and a GE block

MasterPower 61mm .68 A/R drewgo manifold
Single walbro n supporting mods
2.5MM boost logic headgasket.
did 490 @ 404 ft lb of tq @ 22 psi

Because of fuel pressure drop i lowered it to stable 20 psi...

Basically, you'll end up with a complicated 1J.

The typical 1.5JZ uses the the head and wiring of a 1J and the extra cc's of the 2J block. All the wiring and everything plugs right in making it a simple plug and play ordeal.

If you're not afraid of a bit of wiring and possibly some fabrication (not sure if intercooler pipes or down pipe will match up), I say go for it.
