How I spent my Summer Vacation............

Spent all last week cruising with the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour. What an amazing experience if you're a true gear head. 3000 rides of all kinds all cruising together from city to city on mostly back country roads. Small towns had welcome banners, everyone sitting in lawn chairs waiving as we cruised on through. Needless to say that we were the only Supra on the tour, but the MKIII represented very well. Lots of thumbs up, lots of compliments, and lots of "What is that?". Two different people called it a Ferrari which immediately made me laugh and think of Lamm. 1,600 miles and never turned a wrench, burned no oil and A/C blowing cold.
Then Saturday in Little Rock the most amazing think happened, during the closing ceremonies my wife grabbed me and said they just called my name on stage. I ran up there and thought I won a T Shirt or something. Come to find out I had won a complete 350 Chevy Crate Engine valued at $3,600, and they filmed it for Hot Rod TV on ESPN2. Pretty cool, I'll sell it and put some into the Supra. I'll definitely do it again next year.

Enjoy:

Lance: Well done :D

Hmmm new crate engine and a clean Supra.......... dunno if I could resist :evil2:
IJ, That would be kind of like volunteering for a Pay Cut or something?:dunno:

Did I mention, I was standing up on stage with my 7M powered shirt on accepting this Chevy engine! :biglaugh:

There were a few imports Joe, a twin turbo GT3000 made the entire tour from Cleveland to Little Rock. Mostly Muscle Cars, but as you can see, there was just about everything imaginable.

Incredible story Lance. Wow...

So the engine you won; Was this a specific prize like "Best non-domestic thing we've ever seen!" or a drawing?

EDIT: Oh yeah, and keep us posted on when they're going to air this on ESPN2!

LMAO, when I got there I recieved a goodie bag full of cool stuff, it also had about 10 cards to fill out and drop in boxes at each vendor's trailer. Sure enough they pulled my name out of the box out of thousands of entries, what luck, the shock still hasn't worn off yet. The show will air in about 6 weeks, I'll post back here when I know an exact date.

Thanks again guys, it was such a blast............

its a 350/330hp, that's why I said it would be like taking a Pay Cut. It would be nice in a bucket roadster or something cool like that, but I don't need any more projects for a while. I need to work on my house, build decks, etc.

Very nice. Your car looks as amazing as ever Lance, and I loved that 442 also. I had a crate motor 350 a few years back that cost me $4200.00. It was in a 1984 Chevrolet pick em up truck. I had an aluminum edelbrock intake and carberator on it as well. She caught fire under the hood and I ended up selling everything.............

summer hasn't started yet don't you mean spring vacation =X Nice pics!
It's almost 100 degrees F here in Texas, it is definitely summer here. We pretty much stay indoors for the next 3 months, and the cars run like crap in all the heat. I will however try to make SILV in October, if not this year, definitely next year.:biglaugh:
