Front cams for camber adjustment seized- UPDATED-both sides nearly done!

so i got a call from the alignment shop today. i brought my car down yesterday to get an anlignement done so i could put on my mkiv rims and falken's. apparently, they got the rear cams loose, enough to get the camber almost perfect on both sides. (like 3/4* out on one side).

the fronts are totally seized. i guess i'm going to have to try to replace them. my plan thus far: soak the hell out of them with PB blaster, and take an air gun to them at 100psi. i don't care about the tires on there, so i also don't care if they get ruined driving back to the shop. i just have to find a way to get them out.

also, they mentioned that many of the bushings on the car are starting to rip out/dry rot, which i knew. none are bad enough YET to be replaced, but chances are, after my turbo upgrade (which i technically shouldn't do until i get this all sorted out) i'm sure i'll trash them with 400hp. i'm going to look for a polyurithane bushing kit, and if it costs me an arm and a leg, i guess i'll just replace them with stockers.

anyway, i guess i'm just upset, as i was really looking forward to putting the new rims/tires on.

what about these two? this isn't a full race car, but a weekend warrior. comfort isn't really an issue, but i like speed, handling, and precise steering. i figure while i'm under there messing with everything, why not do it all?

i run the red ones in my car but i must worn you you will have to add greas nip's on every thign that has new bushing

Good luck, when i did my suspension i pulled all the eccentrics out, put them on the wire wheel and re-installed with a lot of anti-seize. the drivers side front were frozen solid, soaked, heated, hammered, nothing would budge them. I put a ball joint press on them and the subframe start ripping before the bolts would move. I had to cut them out and replace the A arm with new bolts. This sucked preety much but in the end, the suspension and related parts are all good and the alignment is spot on, and future alignments if needed will be easy.

Blue pearl, after you cut the bolts off, could you see why they were seized up so badly?

i'll be picking the car up tomorrow. then i guess i have to try to rip it apart. i'm not looking forward to it, but it needs to be done.

i'm not exactly sure what the shop did to try to get them out, but i hope that whatever i do breaks them loose! i'd really rather not deal with replacing A-arms and whatnot.

Shaeff: I think the soaking in PB for a few days before starting will help!

I don't have grease fitting in my RK Poly bushes but I did assemble them using Moly Grease based on many years of using Poly Sway Bar bushes that drove me insane squeaking!

So far still tightNquiet just a bitch of a job to install!

putting them in won't bother me, as i don't drive the car in the winter anyway, so downtime isn't an issue, and i won't be rushing. so i'll just do what you did, and hope for the best! thanks!

oh yae do not i mena do not use heat to try to get them out you wreak the sub frame a shop donw here did this to my car and all my cam lock just bend over now like butter

they fucked them up good so now i have to fix it by adding bead behind the tabs fucker's i am still pissed about it and the price they charged me

i left huge patch rubber out of there shop from there frotn door all the way down the street rideing the brakes liek mad man

Good luck getting those eccentric bolts unseized. I dealt with those on my Supra plenty. I stand behind cutting or blowing them out with a torch. Once you get the impact pouding on the bolt you'll quickly realize what an absorber that rubber bushing is.

I went with teh RK poly bushings. The install was not bad at all, as long as you have all of the information. I installed the grease fittings.

seized bushings are a super common problem. while they may have been able to move the back ones, i'd guess they were just turning the rubber bushing. you may want to verify that they did indeed break them free. your only option is to cut them out, which takes forever.....

as for the nylon bushings, they're great. just be ready for 'em....more harsh than stock or polys. get 'em from champion toyota, they're cheaper.

Damnit, shaeff that sucks.
You are, unfortunately, going to have to cut them out, and it sucks.... bad.
An air powered hacksaw is the best tool to use here. it can get between the subframe and bolt easier than a sawzall.

champion bought up a large number of sets that were made by unobtanium motorsports.

if they are broken free, it would be in your best interest to yank them all and sand them down and coat w/anti-seize....

nice! i'm definatly giving them a call on friday. apparently, the shop DID fix the rear. i can see the difference. (i know, i know) but the rear tires don't break loose if i look at the gas pedal anymore.

they did actually break the front bolts loose, but couldn't get them to move other than that. i guess i'll be messing around with it this weekend. should be fun.

i'll definately be using lots of anti-seize. thanks again,
