Some more work has been done :)

The supra is now on jackstands and the wheels are off. Almost all interior is out and so
is the sound deadening (not on picture).

Some more things that are not on picture is that the rear brakes, rear struts, bolts between
the propeller shaft and diff and the bolts between the drive axles and diff are out.

Did some more work on the subframe today. But I'm having some problem removing one of the bolts
holding the diff in place and the bolts holding the lower control arms in place are stuck.
I also removed the rear bumper.

Started the work against the evil rust today. Drained the fuel and removed the fuel tank to
avoid any fires and explosions :)

It was time to bite the bullet and start welding.
I got started on the part around the filler neck pretty ok but when I took a break from that
and start inside the wheel house it got bad :-/
My welder didnt want to work like I wanted it to, I got alot of spatter on me which left burnmarks
on my stomach, arms and legs and I kept hitting my welding helmet on everything.
So I called it a day and went home. Better luck next time... I hope.

Man that sucks,a lot of work to fix.Good luck with the repair, glad to see it being done right. How are all the floors and everything? Here's a couple pics of mine when I started stripping it down.Kudos on all the work, the undercarriage is a bitch to strip, let alone repair.

I was surprised/amazed that my fender wells were that clean, especially being a Michigan car most of its life.

nice to see somebody else taking the plunge with a rusty supra....mine was a bit worse, but I must admit, I didn't do the bodywork myself. Nice work.

Thank you guys :)
So far it looks like the rust liked the rear wheel houses to much to go anywhere else, which I'm glad for.
Now it's time for another visit to my supra...there will be an update up later tonight (swedish time)

Now I'm done welding the top part of the plate that I started on the last time.
It still looks like rabbit shit, but it seams to work...atleast I hope so.

Then I did some more work on the plate that goes around the fillerneck.
I cut the hole for the opening and put it in place in the car, holding it in place with
the gromet. I still need to do some more work on it before I can weld it in.
I also want to primer the outside of it before I weld it in.

So, I tried a product called Label Off and it worked extremly good on the sound deadening mats.
The idea was also to try it on the undercarriage paint since both are based on asphalt,
but it didnt do much good. I then removed the remaining undercarriage paint in the right
rear wheelhouse oldschool style ;) grinder with an rotating wirewheel.

I cleaned up a little bit :)

My arch dilemma is holding me back a bit. I want to cut away more rust and weld in new steel.
But I need to change my arches and depending on the way I will take to solve this problem I might
make it harder if I repair to surrounding rust. The best way is to weld in arches from a healthy
supra.
So whiel waiting for some answers regarding some arches from another supra I'm removing undercarriage
paint.
This time it was time to do some in the rear left wheel house.
I started with a heat gun and something to scrape with, then I use the grinder with a wirewheel.

Nop, I did use welding gas (Mison 18), but I was working against gravity and it was hard to reach and therfor the result :/

I first used a gasket scrape with a hammer and then I'm using a product called label off to remove the remaining stuff.

Today I worked some more on the rear left wheelhouse, most of the undercoating is gone there.
I also cut away some rust that I will weld the next time I'm there.

When taking apart the rear subframe before I had a problem with one of the bolts holding the
diff in place. The nut that is inside the subframe rotated with the bolt.
So I did some cutting and welding and now the nut is locked in a correct position and can not
move. I will weld back the pieces I cut off when the primer is dry on the inside.

I tried to get the woman to drive my mazda but she's too scared of it.

Looking forward to the HX52 that you are going to bolt onto that old 7m :)

Can anyone tell me what type of trigger pattern the 7m uses? Our swede will be needing an engine management system for his upgrades at some point so I had better make sure mine works with it :)
