Few things.
First things first though.. A couple months ago i had to sell my supra, and now that I found this, I wish I hadn't... Anyway, long story short, sold the supra (was an mkiii) and i picked up a 1990 240sx with plans of putting a 2jz in it.
This is where my question comes in. I found a guy in my town with a 2jzge that has everything for the swap (minus the wiring labor i'll need to do to make it mate with the 240..) so this includes the engine, auto tranny (not gonna take that from him, I'll just save up and get the manual r154) wiring harness, and ecu.
He wants $1800 for the whole swap (that price includes auto tranny) and he said for $2000 he'd include his Garrett t3 38(? couldn't quite understand what he said after t3) turbo.
I'll include a list of the things he's done to it because he was originally building it to turbo it, but decided to go v8 instead.
Things he's done goes as follows:
valve seals replaced 9/10
alt rebuild 10/11
timing belt 12/10
p/s pump 8/10
serpentine belt 4/10
ngk r plugs 12/10
cap/ coil rotor 12/10
royal purple oil change and filter 12/11
egr delete
GTE headgasket. 9/10
ARP head studs 9/10
injector clips 8/12
The engine is still currently in his car, waiting to be pulled. He has it in so people can come listen to it for insurance that it does indeed still run with no engine knocks or funky sounds that it shouldn't have.
My plan is to pick it up when I have the money saved up which should only be a month and a half, two months max, then build it up outside of my car and get it all set up for a turbo set up, then and ONLY then will I install it. I'm not going to half-ass the job whatsoever. Do it once, do it right.
Is this a good deal on that engine? or is $1800 too much for the ge engine, harness, and turbo? again, not wanting the transmission.
I only want this engine because it is basically my dream engine haha. I have no intentions to rush the build, and I will wait for a better deal if this one isn't a good deal. I just figured if I could have the opportunity to do a local pick up and have something I can hear run before I buy it, and not have to pay shipping costs, it will be a lot smoother.
As of right now, I'm not too worried of how much it will cost to build a 2jzge na-t because I will have the funds, and I don't expect to have a full running swap over night. I'm going to take my time to make sure everything is right.
Anyway, what are your guys' thoughts on this deal? He told me to make him an offer for the whole swap minus the tranny, but I told him I don't know a whole lot on the auto tranny that those cars came with, and know mostly more about the r154.
What would you guys pay for this deal?
also if this is in the wrong section, could a mod move it?
Thank you for your time, any and all advice is welcome and appreciated a ton.
