Any way I payed $1100 for this 89 turbo in fall of 07' with (what the seller though was a blown piston) ending up finding a stuck valve. I have been kicking my self since 2003 for selling my last 89 turbo, so I wanted another one, but this time I wanted to either a 1jz or a built 7m. Well I chose to go with the 7m because for close to the same amount of money I could have a kick ass 7m for the price of that 1jz, (plus front clips are hard to come by).
Im going to do this build thread a little different. All pic. at the beginning so you don't have to page through talk to find the pics. !!!! This is what we all like to see, right?
First picked it up and loaded into semi from the windy city, for a ride back to land of 10,000 lakes.

Well I picked up my head yersterday 7/3/2008 from Jim. ALL done! Compleat rebuild with port & polish, 272 cams, 1mm larger valves, BCC springs, AEM cam gears.

p1053159_7.jpg

Vacuum block I made, now just to find a place to mount it.
p1053159_8.jpg

HK$ head gasket came in last night and started to bolt the head down and....................the ARP nuts from my head stud kit would not fit. god-dam it.
p1053159_9.jpg

A quick responce from IJ and off to the lathe I go to fix the problem. A new ARP nut has a .816" base, I spun them down to .780" and now they all fit.
p1053159_10.jpg

Mods needed to fit AEM cam gears.

Wireing mod to fit alt. with my FFIM.
p1053162_1.jpg

underside of FFIM
p1053162_2.jpg

This is the only pic I could find of my throttle cable I had to make. Was 36" had to shorten it around 4" and custom make ends to connect to pedel, and TB.
p1053162_3.jpg

More things installed. The funny part the vary firts part I bought for this supra was the muffler and it pretty much the last added to car.
p1053162_4.jpg

A little VHT nightshades to front blinkers
p1053162_5.jpg

Sample of solder skills or lack up, LOL. Yes, I like to solder wires rather then just pinch or crimp them together.
p1053162_6.jpg

And after everything was said and done I had a huge vac. leak only pulling 5 inHg. come to find out the flange on my FFIM was bad. So back to the machine shop. Here is how she sits as of 7/28/2008

Nice and clean, just the way I like it. Wouldn't even know it was there if I didn't tell you ;)

p1053163_13.jpg

VSV and heater valve working and fixed with a working one.

p1053163_14.jpg

Updated engine bay shot. I reinstalled the PCV system for now, but it will change again since it looks like ass along with stock intake tube.

Hook up cruse control. It works but I need to move the connecting poing out further from the center, so it works better at low speeds.

Rear view camera installed and cleaned up the wiring in the rear.

We also put Sean's rims on the sup for shits and giggles and to see if the color works with the paint. I like the chromelip, but I think the center will have to be darker, maybe gun metal, black chrome, something like that.

Did some say something about suede?? Suede head liner FTW. Working on the last roof piece now and finishing the sunvisors. Still need to cut out the hook things. I think the door inserts also will be suede also now, it feels so nice.
p1053164_6.jpg

3-22-2009
Re did the part that would be above the sunvisors, and installed suede on the rear seats side where the OEM leather would be plus the head bonk cushion. I dont know what it is called but head bonk cushion works for me, lol.

3-25-09

Picked up some new tail light gaskets, M.C shift bushings and a TEWD

p1053164_10.jpg

4-1-09

Suede door inserts are done and installed along with a different grey door panel that isnt cracked up. (thank you Emilio again!!). Now just waiting for the new leather to show up for the seats

p1053164_11.jpg

And installed hks exhaust and dose not fit to well  tips not even close to level.

p1053164_14.jpg

Pic of it next to the home made exhaust that came with the supra.

p1053164_15.jpg

Here is a pic of the solid motor mounts I made. Now that the exhaust is quiet I can hear the FFIM hitting the shock tower so time to install them and see how they feel. I know my welding skills sucked on these. I haven't welded alum. in 5 years andf it shows :(

p1053164_16.jpg

4-6-2009

WHOO! the new leather skins are here. SUPRA is embroired into the top back and also pick up the front heated seat option. Color is perfect compairing it to the leather e-brake cover. In the pic it look off a little but it is because the ebrake is shiny, from cleaning it.

The "england" emblem I have mixed feeling about. I want to keep it since it was part of the car when I bought it from the previous owner(kind of a story to go with the car, if you know what I mean). But yet at the same time I have no affiliation with england. So we will see.

The duel exhaust/muffler IS pure sex. I had the same on my last 89T and it was sweet, so I'm continuing on the heritage

Its coming along quick but I want it to come along quicker(don't we all)

Looks great. Your atention to detail is shoing greatly. he did you gt the trbo a duct?

The Turbo-A duct is a replica from Raceonusa. It was kind of a pain and I still might need to re-do the mounting studs. When you buy one from them there is no way to attach it to the bumper, so far I used JB weld to hold the studs on but I think i will be redoing it.
