Its water cooled, an exhaust isnt.

If you read the rest of the thread you see full race has recommended not running an aluminium dump pipe either, and that although a cat back could be alloy, it will eventually crack/break due to the thermal expansion.

I really doubt it will melt. maybe fatigue over a period of time. possibly crack. we'll find out tho.

Yeah "melty" was the word I used, it was an exaggeration. I didnt mean to suggest its literally going to melt all over the floor. All metals lose their strength way before they melt, this is the issue. Aluminium also has the issue of high thermal expansion, twice as much as steel.

Again I'm now going to run a SS downpipe and aluminum back. It will be straight aluminum so easy to replace if and whenit goes out. Since I already have a 4" vband set and bends I'm going to make a aluminum Downpipe for the track

aluminum melts at roughly 1200 degree farenheit. The chances of your EGTs exceeding 1500 degrees are almost guaranteed. the oxide that forms will melt at over 2000 degrees

terrible idea. good luck with that for any length of time. it just seems like it's so much more trouble than like 8 lbs is worth. it's a headache and potential liability. if those welds let go around the V-band when you're doing a pass on your not-so-perfectly tuned 1200hp car and hot gasses (probably flames) get spewed out from the turbo into your engine bay, it could get ugly.

Again there are plenty of people I know running an aluminum exhaust on drag cars. 1000+ hp civics, alot of outlaw v8 guys, and obviously you didn't read all of our posts. Yes it melts at 1200 degrees, but exhaust gas isn't direct heat it's indirect.

I have made girdles before for the billet mains, here are pics of the one I made for the malta dragster

Sick build. The valve covers are badass....AZ seem to have quite a few powerful 7M's from what I've gathered. I'm glad you chose the 7M power plant to try to achieve such power as it always seem to be a "In your face!" matter when done successfully haha.

Is this car going to be strictly for drag or occasionally driven on the streets?

Ya there's a couple cars out here that make decent power. And it's going to be purpose built for drag but will drive it on the street as well as occasional drift and road race events.

The solid tensioner looks a million times better then the stock one, any 7m I build will definitely have this on it.

The block pictured is to get the car moving. I'm picking up my $5k head Friday from the machine shop which is going on this block. That heads just for mock up completely bare. Rich will be building the block when I get more money saved up.
