87-88 Auto ECU Question

I have a friend that i am helping with putting a GTE in a GE car. He has a GTE with a manual wiring harness. He has found a 87-88 Turbo ecu from a auto car, will this work in a 5-speed car? I have searched and it look like there is not an issue with putting a auto ecu in a standard car. I just wanted to check with the community to see if anyone has done this.

I converted my auto to manual. It was gte to start with. The ecu works fine. If it was an auto to begin with, there are a few wiring issues for cruise and back up lights. gl.
