Hello!
I am curious because I don't know what car to go with. An SR20DET 240sx or a 1jzgte 87 Supra.

I was wondering, for comparison interest, how a stock 1jz in a gutted MKIII would do against a, let's say, 2005 STi from a roll?

I am also eventually wanting to go with a big single turbo. I WANT TO HANG WITH COBRA's/MODDED CORVETTES ON THE HIGHWAY NO PROBLEM!

Why is it that so many GT40 dyno charts show numbers under 500whp? Is there a reason many don't boost past 16psi? I need a turbo that can satisfy my power cravings. Thank you for your opinions!

i think the heaviest thing in a supra would be the seats. the rest is pretty light. its the frame thats really damn heavy.

Oh well that's great!

I just hope that without seats or paneling I can get it down to 3300lbs.

That's not my main concern, however. My concern is for the stock 1jz to hold up with a stock STi.

What are yall's thoughts on this?

STi's are slow, Evo's are slow...

7M = torque monster, something both of them don't really have...

stock 1J will do more than a stock 7M, but let's not get into the 1J/7M debate...

The frame is not as heavy as people think, believe me I know!!! MKIIIs are heavy because of a combination of parts, not just one single item. Driver and pass. pwr seats combined weight almost 100lbs.

I just edited my first post.

Why is it that so many GT40 dyno charts show numbers below 500whp and also run only at or under 16psi?
My goal is to keep up with modified Cobra's and Corvettes on the highway with no problems! What turbo do you think is right for me?

Try to steer away from taking weight out of the back of the supra. Most of the weight needs to be taken out of the front. And please, don't use this statement as an excuse to start ripping out EGR, charcoal canister, and other shit for the sake of weight savings. By taking out ALL of the A/c stuff (including the shit under the dash) you can reduce quite a bit of weight (if you don't use A/C, like me ;)).

Yeah my buddy told me about the miata with the LSx motor in it. CRAZY!

Perhaps I should just go 240 :icon_evil with a 1jz.
