Dream car is a mk3, I eventually got one after saving all my lunch money and working since i was 14. I finally bought on in April of 2010 (18yrs old)(now19) when just a few days b4 graduation. i paid for it in over 500 one dollar bills and assortment of other bills but it cost me $1200 it came with fraying tires, leaking p/s rack, blown speakers, stained interior, peeling paint, missing trim, electrical problems, and the smell of burning oil off the exhaust manifold. I drove it for several months and the 7mge was enough to run down civics and the other 4 banger sorts, but I'm looking to go for something to run down the mustangs, cameros, vetts, and other self proclaimed no replacement for displacement crowd.

What i have done
-Replaced p/s rack
-tokico whites
-valve cover seals
-ngk lazer platnium
-drilled brakes
-all fluid changed
-rotor button
-cap
-plug wires
-excedy clutch and pres plate

The car is 7mge-w58-g284
This weekend Im picking up a 92 sc300 with a w58. I plan on having help with the rebuilding of the motor 2JZGE non vvti. This will be turbo setup with hx35,looking for a starting goal of 400hp but having the capability of reaching 550hp.

what i am sure of
-400hp
-w58
-2jzge na-t
-walley 255 pump
-stock electronics
-BIC pre89 mounts
-spec 2 stage clutch
-3.73 lsd

not sure of
-thickness of hg
-stay with na 10:1 pistons or go with gte
-stock rods or gte rods?
-which standalone???
-is the w58 from mk3 and sc300 same linkage? (position of shifter center or swan necked)
- is the D/S from sc300 have same flange off trans like the mk3?

below are some pix when it came home and the interior stains before and after

usually ppl swap in the stock tt headgasket atleast to bump comp down a bit, but even then with the ge pistons ull have a bit higher comp than a stock 2jzgte. Also the n/a-t section here is great, i was going this path until i went straight gte and im also 19 :D i bought mty supra with a 7mge when i was 16 tho.

Dimped or drilled rotors are cheaper than replacing the whole car.. Self drilling the rotors can cause sub-surface cracks from the friction generated by the drill bit without adequate cooling. Especially with 'cheap bits'. Just my .02

You & i are alike.. bought my Supra in September 11, 2010.. & now im 19 too.. Overhauled the engine. Installed a Federal mogul head gasket when i technically needed a 2.0mm MHG & after 11k+ miles it runs.. Good luck with your goals man.

Update:
so this was the sc300...little damage to driverside (may buff out) and there is all the parts of the motor such as alt,ps pump,ac pump, tensioner, serpentine belt, timing cover, valve covers, sparkplug valley covers, ypipe, intake pendlum, egr pipe, vaccum hoses, clutch ass.,tranny, exhaust manifold, supports, and other crap

got the head off, 167,xxx miles and I DID NOT NEED RIDGE REAMER! little diesel and wire bruch removed the small amount of carbon build up. still had crosshatch! :D pistons had minimal wear signs, rod bearings looked great for the mileage! end play was next to none! dimensions of block where STILL FACTORY!! STILL TOYOTA FACTORY! with 167,000!!!

so today the parts were ordered for next weekend
-arp head bolts
-cometic .095 mhg
-engine seal kit (ebay)
-acl rack bearings,thrust,main,rod (standard)
-npr rings(standard)
-rad hoses(good price)

Toyota lists a change from an alloy sandwich plate to a steel sandwich plate around 1989. The steel sandwich plate has some minor internal differences, and it is believed to be slightly stronger (some wider bearings, some wider gears, slightly different gear selection mechanism, etc.). In theory the all-alloy version of the W58 should be exactly the same strength as any other all-alloy W-Series transmission. The steel plate version is considered much harder to find and worth approximately three to five times as much as an all alloy version.
