Chambers Build Thread - "The Rat Soup"

Just a bunch of pics from building my first 7M turbo car, "The Rat Soup". This is my ZERO EFFS GIVEN car, with BUDGET BUILD in every aspect of its journey. I found this car on craigslist as "not running and needs engine". When I pulled the old GE engine out number 6 connecting rod decided to...

    1uz ecu?

Also note, 96 and 97 ecus differ as well. I have an early 96 engine in my car, thick rods, and the wiring is a cross between the pre 96 and 97 cars.

Went through a lot in the past month, found a crack on my modified header so I put my factory manifolds back on with my old down pipes… bummer… But it all went back together smoothly, other than a royal battle with the front subframe and the engine, in a freshly painted engine bay… It was tense...

Engine bay clean up(what can I remove)

I just moved my engine bay fuse box to the front, so it can be hidden under the cooling panel and easily exposed to diagnose problems. It does take a lot of skill to do this properly, I have been rebuilding engine harnesses and developing my own skills for about 4 years doing wiring on many...

Been working like crazy, found the floor under the rear strut cross member was rusted. So I've been working on cutting out the rust and fabbing up replacement metal. But, I managed to decide on a battery, and made a bolt in mounting system for it so I can service the battery when the bumper is...

    Old alarm connected to... what?

If its connected to that connector, then yea I would say its connected to your running/parking lights and turn signals. I have a 92 TWED book I can reference when I get home tonight, and post my findings. The drivers door has a "DOOR CONTROL" box or something similar. Its basically a relay box...

r154 upgrade, to dog box or not to dog box a daily/weekend warrior

From what I understand about sequential gear sets they don't necessarily mean you can hold higher power levels unless you have them made for it. Its mainly for quick shifting, and if you think the R154s are getting scarce then putting a sequential gear set in your R154 will make it even tougher...

Got some more work done, new bushings in the front upper and lower control arms, new sub frame bushings in both front and rear, started assembling the front sub frame, started re-finishing misc engine bay components, and did a bit of body work where the battery tray used to be. A friend who...

Kinda, I used a cordless angle grinder with a cut wheel, corded angle grinder with a grinding wheel, an air angle grinder with a small cut wheel, and another air angle grinder with a sand paper disk attachment! This was the second one I have removed, they put A LOT of spot welds on the thing, I...

Work continues; When I removed the hood one of the bolts had rusted a bit... the guy who built the hood put nuts in some sort of foam under the CF, so when its a little rusty and you apply torque to remove it the foam breaks down and the nut spins............. Also removed the sub frame...
