Ok right, can someone check this hosing? Especially what I've circled in red. At the top, why do I only have 1 nipple when all the diagrams show two? (one coming from the bottom red circled nip and then the missing nip going to the left most red circled nip)
Is how it's currently connected up...
Vac at idle = -20
Vac after letting off gas at ~3k,000rpm = -24 and then it'll slowly creep back up to -20
My understanding is that this is pretty normal?
Also, reconnected that hose and took it for a drive for about 10 mins and oddly enough it didn't do it (stall/idle low) even after boost...
Have done nothing at all recently. Car is fairly standard as well. Aftermarket BOV, boost tap is mostly it. Fully rebuilt engine with less than 10,000km on it.
Only started happening one day after taking it out for a Supra meet and giving it a bit of a hard time.
How would I know if the...
It's a knock off GReddy, but it is a SSQV.
Have had it on for over a year and the problem started a couple months ago after having a few more than normal boosts that day.
Not a pic of my engine bay, but just one I found on the net. I Have a 86.5 7mgte.
Basically have had problems where car will idle low/stall after warming up/boost and a mechanic has decided to disconnect that hose and block both ends up. So that valve (or w/e the proper term is) is...
No codes whatsoever.
It's now actually starting to completely stall. Stalled three times on the way home from just putting the clutch in and/or stopping.
Covered BOV with hand at idle, no different. Flap is closed as far as I can tell (can stick finger into BOV but not into pipe at idle)
Will try this. It was idling fine when I got home so couldn't do it.
Oddly enough tonight it was acting a little different. It was idling fine on the way home, I'd accelerate then put the clutch in and it would only drop to around 1000rpm, then I'd make sure to hit boost them put the clutch...
Since yesterday it's been idling low as soon as it warms up. When it's cold it's fine and idles around 900 which is what it has always been. But after driving for a few mins every time I let off the gas or put the clutch in the revs drop fairly quickly, which makes gear changes a bit rough...
Yip down here in New Zealand it's right hand drive (that's why I mentioned right was drivers side)
Plenty of advice to go by so far so will get onto it. Hopefully I will find out what's causing it. Thanks for all the replies!
Best way I would use to describe this - when you put a card or a piece of cardboard next to the spokes of a bicycle wheel and it hits it each time it goes round. The faster you go the faster the noise is.
If that makes sense. Basically when I'm driving I can hear a ticking noise at anything...
The last two times I've driven the Supra it's suddenly died while driving. I -think- both times were when I was letting off to slow down to a stop and it just suddenly dies but I can start it up again fine.
Checked for codes and all I got was a 41 which tbh I have no idea how old that could...
