    Forged Internals in the Cold?

So a thinner oil just for winter? I have to rebuild the motor anyway so I figured I would make it as strong as possible. Instead of hoping that it will withstand 500hp I know it should

    Forged Internals in the Cold?

I guess I had better finish tearing that motor apart and find out! :biglaugh:

    Forged Internals in the Cold?

Yea we had a very cold spell this winter -44ish. It froze and cracked my power steering hose! I couldn't find the block heater and the supra started up every time even if it took a try or two. Turns out I have one it was just zip tied behind the block.

    Engine build/machine work Q's?

And what do you re torque the head to? I’m sure its on here a thousand times but it will help.

    Forged Internals in the Cold?

I was told about the pistons slap, the fact that forged internals are more susceptible to a spun bearing and can scratch the cylinder walls when not at operating temp. I dont want to drop the money in the motor and have to redo it!!

    Engine build/machine work Q's?

What year is the old motor, what year is the new block? Get it decked then ask them the RA value and get a mhg to match. (I have forgoten what the RA value should be at) What are your goals for the motor?

    Forged Internals in the Cold?

Alberta temperatures can reach as low as -40*c and I have heard forged internals can be affected by the cold and even harm the motor if used before they reach operating temperatures! This car is my daily driver year round and I was looking for good reliability but the ability to reach 500hp...

    Absolute's 87' Overhaul

Meh those are pic's from when I first got it, now there is a bit of rust on the drivers fenders and door. But I can only hope it make mine as clean as your car even if it is only in primer. You gota let me know what wheels those are! And for the forged stuff, I was told that it will be...

    Absolute's 87' Overhaul

The story: I bought my supra a little less than a year ago. It is a white/burgundy 87' turbo. Like most others it is in ok shape, but I can not complain for $900 CDN. It has been a trying time with this supra and I am sure I have put in more money than it's worth but it is a fun car. Well, it...

    AZ Summer Build

Personally, I’m opting for Probe purely on price. Wiseco has been around for a long time so I’m sure they are of great quality but I don’t doubt that CP is a good product too.. I’m sure others will chime in with more specifics.

    Sethron71's 92' 500RWHP Build, lots of pics!

Looks great. I wish i had enough time (and money) to dedicate to my motor. One question, what are you doing with your valve covers? I think all gold would be over kill. Anyway, cant wait to see how it turns out. good luck.

    89+ conversion kit.

It only includes the three pieces that I stated. I would like the mirrors, but I'll need new doors and fenders sooner or later anyway so I will find some then. And I prefer the 87 front end, I just got to get my fogs to work. Is it still worth $300 for it?

    89+ conversion kit.

What would an 89+ conversion kit be worth? It includes trim, 3pice wing, and tail lights. There is a local guy selling one and it sounds reasonable, I just want to make sure that it is a good price.

do the probe pistons come with the piston pin? I know you get the piston and rings but it doesnt say anything about the pins.
