New MK3 Supra owner. 7mgte Build. Need Help.

^Good point, I hate when people are to quick to say "you have a BHG". I wasn’t saying it was a sure thing just a possibility. You will need to make a few upgrades so your motor will put up with this. Metal Head Gasket and ARP studs - This will prevent a HG leak in the future but both the...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

That is really frustrating. Do they have a dyno? If they did id let them break the motor in and make a few pulls. This way, if something did happen it is in their hands.

New MK3 Supra owner. 7mgte Build. Need Help.

First off, welcome to the site! White smoke means burning coolant and likely means a bad head gasket (BHG). Unfortunately a BHG is all too common with the 7M motor and will be fatal. So you may be swapping motors sooner then you planned. One key question that has to be asked is; what are...

Just bought it, just blew the HG

It's sort of like shimming the wastegate on a turbo to get higher boost. http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?4419-Shim-your-7m-oil-pump-for-more-oil-pressure

Furious But Lazy 7M owner who gave Up.

Take a screwdriver, place handle against your ear and poke around the block with the other end. It helps pinpoint where the knock is coming from and it helped me confirm that I had rod knock on my old car. I sincerely hope it is only piston slap. When I rebuilt the motor I just mentioned, it...

    Head Gasket thickness selection

They do make a thicker HG but are very difficult to come by. When I built the motor in my first supra the machine shop ended up using a copper gasket that was 6mm (I think) Honestly you would be much better off finding a new head it you need anything a over a 3mm gasket.

    clutch disc question

Here are some comparisons. http://smartsupra.com/parts/drivetrain/clutch/7m-gte/ (I've been building this site in my spare time and it is far from finished) With your estimated power levels you could easily stick with a full face clutch and have stock drivability or go to a 6 puck if you...

Operation: New Lease on Life (1986.5 build)

A donor car is probably the best thing to get your car back up and running. Issue being it is a turbo car, most of the electronics will be different and the intake manifold you are missing is also different. Also, the ad says "Does not run because it needs a distributor" but turbo cars do not...

88 supra build 400 horsepower build on stock internals

Very true. I missed the post where he said he was going to throw the turbo on it and see how it goes before the rebuild. Honestly, that is a great approach if you're planning a rebuild anyway. Sure you risk damage to the original engine but, it is better than doing the same on a fleshly built...

88 supra build 400 horsepower build on stock internals

Any multi layer steel (MLS) head gasket will get you there. Cometic, HKS and Titan are commonly used. It's best to measure the block and head to find out what thickness you need then work from there.
