Why do you think one is older than the other? If they dont have adjustment screws it is either a v2 or v3 and iirc the v3 just came out not too long ago. When they are placed over the turbo the heat will cause them to turn gold fyi. Pics would help too.

Metal against plastic or metal against rubber = rubbing through the plastic or rubber = metal against a pos cable = grounded hot wire = melted unless hopefully it pops a fuse in time which it might not. It can be avoided tho.

The difference between the 2 is one has an adjustment and the other doesnt. My understanding was that people thought that they could raise the boost or it would work "better" by tightening the screws(which the screw was there for adjustment for higher boost levels) and too many people ended up...

There is not enough load or time to hit full boost in first. Vented bov would not matter either unless its leaking.

No prob. Looks like it was just barely hitting on a couple of the bolts.

Turn the disk on the flywheel to see if it his the bolts. It looks like both sides are the same almost.

Take the disk to the flywheel and see if it turns freely without hitting any bolts.

Are you on stock brakes?

alum doesnt rust. brake cleaner just oxidizes the finish. I wouldnt put rubber or plastic things in gas. Maybe go get some purple power and just spray it on and scrub or dip in gas and scrub.

gas or cleaning stuff and a tooth brush or wire brush + elbow grease. brakes cleaner tho it ruins the finish on alum.

the 4in long bolt goes for the filter head to the block and the small goes to the return hose to the pan.

did you replace the oil pump?
