With multi weight oils the first number is cold operation temps and the second is hot. So with a 10w30 your bearings get starved more than with a 0w30. And castrol syntec 0w30 is closer to a 40w when hot so its basically the best of both worlds.
The book and the oil cap both call for 5w30...

Seems to me you might as well just make a custom beefyier arm than reinforce the old stocker. Beech performance makes some arms that looking pretty nice.
You need a phillips and thats it. Theres about 3-5 screws holding in the black trim around the shifter and ashtray depending on how easy you want to do and then after you remove that there is the top part above the cluster and then there is some screws that hold in the cluster. Its not hard...
Iirc both his afm and tps are brand new pretty recently so i doubt that's the problem but who knows.

Use lots of wd or better yet pb blaster on the exhaust manifold bolts so you can have a little more hope that the nut will come off the stud and your studs wont strip out of the head.
Its a common problem for our heads when they start getting soft for them to strip.
