Holy crap...I completely forgot about my lame a** build thread!
Progress (to make it more lame, but at least it tells a full story)....Finally finished the motor install. Runs and drives great, but I'm not going to drive it yet, right now i have a shady pieced together piping kit and no...
Doesn't sound like a gauge issue unfortunately..how much did you shim your pump? Usually a sign of too high of oil pressure is the oil filter o-ring coming off...if your oil pressure is that high you risk blowing out your seals and other bad things. That's a tough one man...I'm not an oil...
Just like an oil pump that doesn't sit low enough in the pan, and head gasket bolts not torqued enough? I get what your saying but its somewhat annoying to constantly see you experienced guys saying things like this without providing at least a brief reasoning behind the comment.
If nobody ever...
Muahahahahaa......well, I dropped the tank, and tried my old stock pump, no change. Went back to my wally. Noticed that where the fuel line coming from the pump bends up to the banjo for the filter it was crushed. Cut it, flared both ends and uses some high pressure fuel line to fix...
Alls I did is I backed off the threads of the fuel dampner a few turns and started the car it sprayed with a bunch of pressure...then shut her down, tightened that up and moved on to the CSI got great pressure there too, then unhooked the like from the afpr and held it over a bucket and it just...
Sorry about that...I was going to take everything off and inspect the rail like implied, but after i fixed my afpr line and checked for pressure again i had great pressure all the way through the rail, only with the FP jumped and idling of course (not when there is fuel demand). Which led me to...
Idle is dropping because of low fuel pressure..i can hold fuel pressure at wherever i want all day long with it idling...as soon as i give it throttle bye bye fuel pressure...gotta be pump or fpr at this point..I'll update on Sunday.
Progress update:
The issue i was having with the IGN fuse was the same issue i had before and just forgot about it. I am missing one piece of the (metal female connector?) i guess you would call it in IGN location the fusebox on the driver side kick panel, so I have to bend the fuse a little to...
I will check into that 3P. I will tear down the rail and see what I can find, will also be replacing the fuel filter, which from NAPA is $18 and Toyota is $41 (wonder if the toyota one will be much better quality?) . I think you're right about it not being electrical, and that would be just fine...
yep. and i was very careful to set them in. I would smell or see fuel leaking if one of those fell out wouldnt I? I'm a little nervous that previously when i was jumping FP and +B i would get 36 with the ign on. Now that i went all around with a voltmeter and probing around i dont even get fuel...
Thanks for bearing with me thus far....I'm still plucking away (probably in all the wrong places)
Fuel pump resister and relay check out per TSRM. Next to check is circuit opening relay and solenoid resistor.
I believe this is just a restriction somewhere in the lines as i am just not...
only thing i did different was check the voltage at the pump and then after checking for fuel pressure with fp and b+ i dont get anything on my afpr gauge. I started tracing it back. At my fuel feed line im getting nice pressure, at the fuel pulsation dampner im getting good pressure, at the CSI...
well from the fuel pump connector i get around 12 V both when car is idling AND with just the ign on and fp and B+ jumped. I'm going to try and pull the fuel filter off and use a rubber hose to bypass it and see what that does to fuel pressure. I'm also thinking of returning back to the stock...
How do I measure voltage at the pump? can i do it from the clips on top of the access to the top of the tank? Or do i have to drop the tank and get to the positive and neg of the pump?
like i said im pretty much electrically challenged but i tried this...to energize my injector i just brought a connector that goes from my battery positive to one terminal of the injector through the top of my injector clip (with a little probe). no change in fuel pressure but didnt hear the...
This would be the case even if I get the right amount of fuel pressure with fp and +B jumped and the ign on? The only time im not getting the fuel i need is when the car is started.
Time for (another) stupid ?. I noticed that any time my crank pulley is set at 0° the lines on the cam gears match up with the timing cover just like they should and cyl 1 seems to be at TDC but my can lobe is never pointing up when I look through the oil hole is this normal or do I have a...
