Indigo, from what I have been able to gather so far, I would just re-locate the canister. I'm sure there are ways of safely removing it, but you would want to come up with some other way to properly vent your gas tank for emissions and safety reasons. Some people have tried vented gas caps, but...
I'm looking for some good reading on how the charcoal canister/bvsv works exactly. Excuse the newbish question, but I can only get bits and pieces from previous threads and was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction to a full read of the system.
My current thinking: the...
Im still trying to get to this....my afm finally completely crapped out on me too (shit always comes in bunches with this car)...then I bought one off ebay and its even worse. As soon as I get the car running again ill be back at this. However I am going to get a digital water temp gauge...
This all makes me realize that there could be a readon to get intercooler piping off of the turbo outlet that can flow the needed amount but has screens or filters in it that could stop fin particles from an exploding turbo from entering the intercooler/motor.
I was doing some reading on the bent fin issue last night and im actually concerned now that maybe really high EGT caused a few of these fins to melt. I know its pretty good chances that acc hose was a culprit too, but after really thinking about it where the pieces are broken off of it are up...
Hmmm good points. I would think I should be more worried about the intake valves. I couldnt really see how the bits of plastic could do much damage to cylinders. If any of it made its way to the cylinders it would just be sitting there on the top of the piston getting burned up wouldnt it? I...
I kinda thought that too but cant think of any possible explaination of how the fins got bent other than pieces of the accordian hose. There are zero markings on the housing so ive been lucky so far. Ughhh just another thing to add to the list lol
When you think you can get away with brittle parts instead of replacing them. From what I can tell it looks like when i put my accordian hose on in the dark last time I must have broke a good chunk of the hose off and clamped it inside there....
I didnt notice the car acting any different as...
3P- I see where you are going and it should tell me my problem. Do you know of a good method I can use to monitor the coolant temp of the car? Such as a thermometer in the overflow tank or something (would this give an accurate temp you think). The pot of water won't help me in this case. The...
I need one of them laser temp readers that u can point at something and it tells you the temp. Or if someone built an upper radiator hose with a thermometer in it that would be awesome lol.
Well now i just did the stove thing with a thermometer, and am even more confused...I may have a problem here.
My senders are both reading right in spec according to water temp. So I put the one that seemed dead on back in the car, let the car warm up a bit and after about 3-5 min the gauge...
When the wire is touched to ground it pegs out to hot. When it is disconnected it stays put at cold. When i test resistance both of my senders are decreasing resistance when the water temp is higher but they are both reading higher resistance than they should. They are the same cheap brand so...
Hmm ill be as thorough as possible here because not 100% sure what u wanted me to check.
Meter on 20k ohms now...
Neg lead on body ground, positive on the sender prong:
Cold engine: 2.58
Operating temp: .80
Neg on body ground, positive on the other part of the sender (part the wrench goes on...
Thx...makes sense...btw you have wicked awesome spidey senses :p
I had neg lead on body ground, positive lead on sender prong and DMM set to 2000ohms...not too much i can mess up here I dont think. But this is a brand new sender not saying that it means its in spec but id put money on the...
