Yea cams really help especially at that power/boost level. I remember that manifold I think. It's the steel one right? Hit the booster and had other fitment quirks IIRC right? I'm going ffim in the future, right now just don't have the funds.

Prolly made every gear engage with a clutchpack or band rather then rely on one way sprags.

Are there transmissions without that flaw? I figured it was how trannys were made so that when your slowing down and it downshifts to the lower gear the car wouldn't jerk from the downshift.

Well in manual mode on the SSv4 it will hold the gear you select no matter what just the problem remains of the one way clutches while the shifter is in D. Ive had times I forget to downshift fro 4th and I take off from the light and the trannys still in overdrive. Haha.

Well if you use the SSv4 in manual mode it should stay in the gear you want. Only thing is in second and below the car is driven from a one way clutch so the rpm will still drop but the proper gear is still engauged.

When it idles high put your foot under the pedal and pull it up towards you. If the engine keeps Reving with no input the throttle Is sticking or something is holding the throttle plate open.
Best thing you could do to the car now would be all the maintenance it would need.
Sp61 is a nice turbo. Might be a little small for your eventual goal but it would be a nice upgrade from stock.

Your saying if you go into boost and push and hold the clutch, the engine will continue to rev at the same rpm with your foot completely off the gas pedal? If that's the case your gas pedal is probrably sticking.
