AR is the relation between the Nozzle and the Wheel
Trim is another way of expressing the relationship between the inducer/exducer.
I wrote a thread about it awhile back.
Dead mastercylinder.
For everyone else it's pretty easy to check for this apply light pressure to the pedal if it's bad it will slowly creep to towards the floor as there isn't enough pressure to force the lip seal against the bad surface in the cylinder.
A good master will lock up solid.
Again if it's done right reman is fine but very few places will do a good job.
I did a contract for the Australian army and Sleeved 1000+ cylinders in brass and never had a return not a single one!
Personally I prefer Stainless but Brass works well enough.
Allan's car has 18k miles on it and he paid MUCH less than 15K and you'd be hard pressed to find a better condition Mk3!
Having said that I have an obscene amount of money in my car as NOTHING is old/2nd hand in it's mechanicals.
The shell is a pig so this is why if I ever want to get rid of...
Jag: The "radial smudge" sounds like 0.00" clearance :(
The machinst "should" have torqued the caps and bearings in place then used a snap gauge and a Micrometer to measure the Snap gauge then Mic the Crank and subtract that from the Bearing ID, what's left is the clearance.
If the motor has excessive blowby or the PCV is plumbed incorrectly the Return won't be able to drain as it's gravity flow, any restriction/increase in crankcase pressure will cause the Turbo to flood and the Oil will find it's way past the Labyrinth seal causing mucho smoke.
Just throwing...
My importance?? WTF :)
You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later. I'll catch up with everyone as soon as I'm able!
Thanks to everyone for all the posts and Rep comments they're much appreciated!
Turbo's don't "Blow" they're actually a really simple device and they don't have rubber lip seals that can dislodge so odds on if you correct the issue the Turbo will be fine!
They run a piston ring seal sometimes a Carbon face seal and a Labyrinth seal my "guess" for what it's worth would...
If the relief were jammed it would have either Burst the Filter or more commonly spat the Filter O-Ring out either of which would get your attention ..
