Noise police are pretty bad here my old 3" single was 97Db and painful to drive long distances so I built the twin which drops it to 88Db (2Db under legal) and it's ohhh so nice with a nice gain in power across the board!
Way back I ran a Toyota 3.4L V8 which I made a LOT of one off custom parts for as there was 0 aftermarket.
I use 6.5:1 Mahle Forged blanks made my own billet steel Cam and a set of moddified Ford V8 Roller lifters, to this I added a pair of smallish t04's and managed 480 rwhp.
The Motor...
Kenny: Just finished reading through the nerd thread ;)
Man it highlights just how lazy forced induction has made me, I want more power I crank in another psi of boost.....
Kenny: LOL it's funny I was having a discussion about flow benches today with a friend that owns a head business!
I've yet to see a flow bench or any testing rig that allows for positive pressure and a way to quantify the results.
I tend to simplify things here as not too many people care...
SS5: Take 6.3 litres of LPG/Air Compress to 24 psi have the Rev limiter shut Ignition off then back on = ka BOOM! ;)
Bul: See above ^
J: yeah it hurt considering I only got 2>3 weeks use of it before the explosion..... :(
Ric: LOL bastard :)
Ed: The Surface hardening on a 7m crank is quite shallow so after 10/10 you're into the soft base metal.
My Crank has been stress relieved then niterided to bring it back to the correct hardness, I have too many $$$ in it to scrap it when it needed a regrind so it was worth paying to have it...
Ed: The King Bimetal's are a disaster waiting to happen....
(I'm guessing their performance bearings are the TriMetal series though)
Normally yes 10/10 is the limit without expensive further work ;)
Mike: Don't tease the old it's unkind ;)
(To me they're worth something but we're talking about 7M owners here they won't pay a premium)
My Crank ended up 20/30 after all the work so I'm limited in bearing choices.
