#5 being down like that would make me suspect either HG or Valves either of which could account for the miss.
The Cam overlap is a bit of a red herring at this point if it were reduced cylinder pressure from overlap it'd be across all 6.

Since it's been Turbo it runs maybe a month a year the rest of it is spent developing parts to replace failed parts.

As John mentions above either system will make the same power, the MoTeC system can and does do everything I can think of and doe it all well with a minimum of fuss.
The set I use are the "Special alloy" ones ;)

There are "good" MoTeC tuners everywhere Driz just need to track one down that's local with a good rep.
Having said that and while the learning curve for the MoTeC is steep I wouldn't hesitate to tune a Petrol/Gas motor with a MoTeC after the time I've spent making my car run.

Sounds like you're trying to justify buying the AEM.......
And have already made your mind up based on cost.
If you can afford the MoTeC get it's it's superior if not get the AEM.
