Take it somewhere that does galvanising and have them clean it then re-gal it and you're good for another 20 years.

NEVER seen a used 7M with a block surface that I'd plop a MHG on and expect it to seal. While it may be smooth and clean they're rarely flat and true esp the early light blocks.

It's a test that will determine cylinder leakage and will show if you have a valve hanging open for any bizarre reasons.... Look it's just a non invasive test suggestion that may give you a better understanding of why it's missing. Cam timing as I said earlier has 9 parts of fuckall to do...
