Hmmm..... I'll need more clarity. Do you mean that after an engine harness swap, that's what's happened?
I could only see that happening if you chenged the front body harness, or did something with the dash harness.. maybe even if you replaced the headlight/wiper controls with oe from a...
Nope... done this a few times. The body harnesses are different... I would recommend swapping the front body harness and dash harness off of the same car, but you may also need the door harnesses, since there's a definite different in all the wiring between pre-89 and 89+.
So, long story...
What you wanna do is get on the SWSupras Yahoo Groups list... Look for Phil D., who recently put a 7MGTE into one of his MKIIs. He's in Ft. Worth and knows every detail... He's an awesome guy... always contributing to the Supra community... He's your best bet.
He's also on the CelicaSupra...
Oh... I gotcha now!!! In my 2JZ swap, with my ~65K mile Aristo engine, I am going to start off with Mobil1 10w30.... 'Til this point, it's only had JDM oil in it ;-)
....well... that's why I'm confused for mine... ~60sumthin' thousand miles? I don't need "break-in" oil... I thought they were just asking what we use in our non-new, current, engines....
Hmmm.... I though about just using some cheap dino-stuff and changing after about a week, but what's the difference (other than a few $$s)? 10w30 would be "light" enough to start off with (regular or synthetic).... no? :icon_conf
That's what I found silly.... whether you have an x-brace or anything, it'd be the same as having the targa off.
I got the Dean Marcum (I think) targa bars a few years back and used them for the 1st time, earlier this year. Just those made a HUGE difference. An x-brace is bound to really...
When the targa is off, you also increase the wind drag.... kinda like a parachute. So, my "opinion" is that your gas mileage may suffer... how much will depend on your driving habits/environments.
When it's a bit cooler outside, I'll not put it back on for days.... worth the xtra gas IMHO.
^^^ Because just to get a V160, it will cost you ~$2500 plus shipping....
Unless you're going high-HP right away, there is no need. Even then, you should probably look at the GM tranny conversion that alot of other high-HP MKIVs use. Day-to-day, everyday use does not justify the cost...
I'm starting off w/Mobil1 10w30 (~$21 for 5qts at WalMart).... We change the oil often and that's where we found it cheapest. We also use it in the fiance's MKIV N/A. If it causes me any issues, I'll go to 15w50... we'll see with this 2J, since it has about 65K miles (I think).
I had a custom 3-piece line made up for the 7M... Any hose shop can do what you want... For the current swap, I stuck w/my 2JZ PS line that I had left from the previous swaps... (~$200-$300).
Here's what any shop can do... mine cost $65, because I had them replace both rubber pieces of the...
Yeah... doin' the work myself and adding some goodies... still not at the ~$3500 mark (but werkin' on it ;-).
Cassio,
I am looking to use the Apexi Speed cut defense deal, which will give me an accurate MPH/RPM reading, as well as send out the right signals to the ECU, etc... for going auto...
... U will need 1JZ- JZA70 motor mount brackets (the 89+ US motor mounts will work...just need them brackets).
You can use a MKIII turbo 5-speed driveshaft (dunno if the N/A one will work).
Can't stress this one ENUFF... get all your stuff together BEFORE you start. Too many ppl (like...
Hey Sir... You have PM.
I am staying auto also. Fits my needs and I'm getting old ;-) Nuttin' wrong with auto... tho I felt like you guys for many years...every sports car should be manual. But, kinda grown outta that, since coming to the Dallas metroplex...

Here's a simple write up I did for someone on SF.... The last pic shows how clean the result is, but it's not a good pic. I'll try and get more this weekend....

Hey,
Here're the links to the pics I was able to get from the cellphone. Basically...
...Yeah, I took a couple of close-ups (with the cellphone tho)... I'll post 'em up when I get home tonight. No problem on that shipping $$.... just Paypal me an invoice... g099521@yahoo.com
I am looking to maybe use the Aristo speedo, so that I can keep the tranny's electronics. We may need...
You guys should come out this coming Saturday....
Christian's getting the car over to the driveshaft place and we should have it back and be ready to wire it up on Saturday. Still have to install the IC and fuel pump, it may be driveable then.
Need to coordinate w/him I guess and see if...
Email me and lemme know what you want for the stock turbo assembly piping and turbos. I'd like to get it all polished up and push/pull in a weekend, instead of pulling off a piece at a time, to polish.
Christian says he may want the stock twins for one of his projects.
