Yeah, I think I got rid of my JZA70 one when I threw the 7M back in...
I already looked at the Fiance's MKIV N/A as a potential donor ;-)
Any other custom setups out there? I had looked at those aluminum finned ones at Summit and on Ebay before, but don't know anyone who's actually used one.
Okay,
So I had set my PS cooler hoses up a couple of different ways, with the previous swaps.
I did not necessarily think that I've made it look as clean or routed as efficiently as I'd liked, so I'd like to see what you guys have done.
I am using a ~91 PS cooler (sitting above the FMIC)...
^^ That's the thing tho... seems like he's strapped for time (I know how that is). How does someone eventually let someone else mess with their Sup (especially on things U can do yourself)? That's one of my biggest hangups... However, my car's over at Christian's now.
He's the only local...
Between engine swaps, extras/goodies, stereo stuff... easily over $5K... But I did get to drive it for a few months this year!!!
Going to the shop today to hopefully finish up the swap... then we start spending/swapping a TT into the Fiance's MKIV... the fun never stops.
I have given away thousands in parts and even paid shipping sometimes. That's the way the community operates. Especially when someone's hooked you up, you need to pass the favor forward (or pay it forward, like that movie).
Anyways, even when I don't need something, I'll buy it off...
I went 1JZ as a cheaper, interim, step towards a 2J. Never did get around to even getting it emissions/inspected and yanked it out and dropped a 2JZ in.
Way back I saw pics of Urbano's 2J/MKIII and knew I wanted one. Don't care about the power, rev-limit, etc... just a nice engine with...
^^ I tried this route and ended up with 3 different sets, of different sized pipes... almost none that I am gonna use in my current setup.
Go get a few different bends and some straight PVC pipe (2.5 inches), to get a really good picture of the route/bends it will need. Then order EXACTLY...
I have the 12x24x4 w/3" openings, which I am using w/my 2JZ swap.
There are so many factors to consider... For one, if you 're gonna have part of the intercooler blocked off and not have the turbo-A duct or wahtever, you won't get alot of flow over the top side of any large intercooler...
Here's a pics from about a month ago, when I was test-fitting and mocking up the IC and intake pipe routing (as well as my very kewl pretend radiator hardpipe;-)...
Can't wait to finish and make it as nice as these other guy's swaps...
I know this will sound stupid, so please just bear with me...
Get some PVC pipe and several pieces of different bends. You can almost pre-fab what you'll need for less than about $20 US.
That way, you order just what you need and you even get to see where you might need different angled...
Very kewl.... Soon as U post an updated picture, I'll point the local guys to the thread and round 'em up. We''ll see how many we can get... especially since the weather will cool off in the next couple of months, making perfect Targa-off time.
Cassio (Ian) just did this same swap into his... He's gonna be your best bet. I've put a couple of "how-to" write ups out there for extending the harness, but nothing specific for wiring pinout/connections, since they all vary so much.
Also, be careful about acquiring 1JZ motor mount...
I can't think of any box sources myself, tho I know taht there are all kinds of suppliers. If anything, maybe we can get several pieces in 1 box for a local group... Like if 5 in DFW buy 'em, then maybe get 1 bigger box and ship together... then maybe it'll get into the better weight/size...
Just like Ian said...
US or JDM Supra is your best bet. The N/A oilpan will need to have the oil-drain hole tapped into it, while the TT version already has it.
Ppl want alot of $$ for the TT pan, while I've seen many of the N/A pans given away (almost).
Here's an old one of the VVTi one I had... I have more pics of the current swap, but they're on another PC.
Any particular angles/mods you looking for in the pics?
From Rick this evening...
"The server crashed last week. The backup they had was also corrupt.
New server came up over the weekend and I'm going to re-up the site tonight.
Tell them it won't be long."
Good news!
Hmmmm... I've exchanged emails w/Rick in the past... But I think it was to an email address from the same domain-deal.... lemme hit 'em up and see what's up.
I do have alot of the diagrams as well and I don't think that he'd mind sharing 'em, as long as he's getting the credit for his work.
