Targa brace update - no GB YET

...I would also like to eventually see other choices/options (even if it costs a bit more). I am not worried so much about weight savings, but about the rigidity and it holding up... while giving me the open-top feel. I'd hate to spend ~$100 and get something "okay," when I could've spent...

WeezL Wayward home for White Supras

Just go to any parts store and find one that you can cut to fit. Will cost $5-$10... I think the last time I did it, I got it for about $6. It's a definite PITA... I hate that lil' bastard hose... Oh and congrats on saving another one of our favorite cars!!!

How do you pronounce the Supra generations? POLL

Funny U should start a thread about this. The Fiance met one of the other local MKIV owners and he was telling her where the M-K-I-V owners meet up... Really, he pronounced EACH letter.... So now we joke about my M-K-I-I-I.... pronounced M, K, I, I, I.

You know what would make the 7MGTE more popular?

Question = You know what would make the 7MGTE more popular? Answer = Product placement in a PG13 movie made to appeal to young kids and ppl who dunno about imports. For example: Fast and Delirious..... The opening scene is burnt, hopeless, targa-top MKIII with a bad headgasket... Guys...

    dash harness!

Yup.... why are you replacing it? If it's just a few cut wires, you should be able to "properly" solder in new wires/connectors without all that work.

Who are the 1J experts here?

Only way to be sure is to get a 5-speed engine set, or somehow know it came from a JZA70... otherwise you'll need the bellhousing ~$350 and a R154 tranny (shifter, etc), motor mount brackets, etc, etc, etc. If a seller doesn't tell you alot, they're setting you up... all they want is the...

    dash harness!

Plan on at least a few hours.... There's a couple of write ups out there for removing the dash... The harness you'll have to see, once you get behind the dash. Squeezing the harness past the A/C blower when removing and installing is the biggest PITA!! Gotta disconnect the harness...

Wire harness help needed, name that wire.

Cold start injector is a PITA to get to... I was able to re-connect mine, using a flathead screwdriver and one of those long "bent-nose" needle nose pliers. The previous times I've had to disconnect or get to it, it was just easier to remove the throttle body. It's basically between a couple...

2jz MK3 swap! Where to begin?

I will see if I can find the 1 "missing" 1JZ bracket that I have in a box somewhere (to complete the set)... Zoon let me have his spare ones. Is your's the early or late 89? If it's the earlier one, then you'll need the custom brackets made up.

    7m Auto to 1jz Auto

Going from 7M auto to 2JZ auto.... lots to do, but luckily most of it's been done before... Should be easier with a 1JZ (from a JZA70 anyways)....

Timing Belt/Waterpump quote -- Am I going to get screwed?

I guess I meant to ask before... but is there a problem with your waterpump or timing belt now? If not, then you have two choices... 1. Get it done before the trip (U or shop). 2. Wait 'til you get to Sacramento and hook up with the local Supra groups. Pros/cons to each scenario. If...

Timing Belt/Waterpump quote -- Am I going to get screwed?

Getting ready to do the 2JZ timing belt and waterpump in the next few days... I did the same on the 1JZ (removed hydro waterpump and installed US one)... just a wee bit more complicated than the 7M. It's a decent quote and like it's been said... you don't really gain any "while you are...

    My targa brace

Might as well start taking deposits (so long as you know you can deliver).... That way you're not gonna go thru all the effort, just to have only a few go thru with the deal... My Paypal is ready....

Timing Belt/Waterpump quote -- Am I going to get screwed?

Parts & labor will kill U with any MKIII... which is why many of us do our own stuff... That's not too much to pay, if you're paying someone else... tho you can get the parts cheaper than listed (you could get 'em at any auto parts) and the labor seems appropriate. For what it's worth...

    My targa brace

....forget about everyone else's nuts....:biglaugh: Anyways here are my targa bars (Dean Marcum's groupbuy, I think). The attached pics show the bolt (which uses the stock targa tool) for the back, and the nut that used with the stock bolts up front. I keep them together like this...

    My targa brace

So when can I order mine....!?!?!? I'd like it so that I could also keep it on while the targa is on and/or so that it will fit in the back where the targa sits. I'm ready to see the final options and if it helps with a decision towards what I want, I can probably order 10+ (based on final...

    Headunit Installation

Basically, if you already have an aftermarket unit, you will re-use thw bracketry, etc. Just have to get back there and see what's going on with the wiring. Pretty easy tho, to just match up the wires to the functions (speakers, antenna, ground, power, etc). Do a couple of searches and have...

ok so can this be done

Yeah.... the blocks are the same (need to make a couple of mods) and the heads are different, but it's been done quite a few times... you have to look in the MKIV NA section of the SF. I will see if I can link you to a couple of the threads....

    My targa brace

Tell me what you need for a group buy... At about the price you quoted, I'll be in for more than one.... (5-10). As in many other group buys, they will wish they jumped on it at this price range. I'd like unfinished product, since I will likely customize each one (paint-wise).
