    shaft play question

Take off the accordian hose, grab the nut on the end of the compressor and wiggle it up and down, then in and out. A mm is ok. More than that is dicey.

    alright, where the heeck did....

Come from? It was put together by someone on the internet - I think they were originally serious, and everyone else thought it was pretty funny. I rather doubt the original author would admit to it by now.

I've been told that jagged graphs can be caused by uneven ignition.

    engine seized? na-t swap.

Ratcheting box end wrench. Easily worth the cost to save hours of work. :)

    1jz or 2jz?

You would likely rather pick up an Aristo 2JZ, less chance the previous owner beat it to shit.

    engine seized? na-t swap.

No, I'm talking about the entire starter - and mine has a nut and a bolt, thus the reason for a buddy to help. One person crawls under the car and puts a box end wrench on the rear - in my case the nut. This person also guides the socket onto the other end, in my case the bolt. The second...

    Replace HG now?

In that case I'd likely suggest using the stock headbolts as well, they should hold a composite gasket just fine as long as you torque them to 72 foot pounds. Unless you own a machine shop, you cannot skim the head yourself, it needs to be done by a pro.

    Just a new guy

Ok, that's a bit of a trip to see a Supra. I'll get by there and take some photos. Anything in particular that you want to see?

    Just a new guy

Yes, I know these people. I am the fellow that checked out Loki's Supra for him before he came down to pick it up. :) It's not in the Buy & Sell that I have seen. Are you local to the lower mainland? If not, I can stop by the shop with a camera and take a whackload of high rez photos for...

    Lapping the block?

A surface grinder is a bloody big machine that machine shops use to grind large hunks of metal until the top and the bottom are perfectly parallel. I'm not aware of how they work, just what they are capable of doing. From what I understand, it's not a terribly uncommon piece of machinery.

    engine seized? na-t swap.

No. If the car is in neutral without the ebrake on and doesn't want to roll, there is something wrong with the transmission - as in, it's not really in neutral, or the tranny is siezed, or something simlar.

    Replace HG now?

Depends on what gasket you are going to put in there - if you are mounting a metal head gasket, then yes. If you are using an OEM style composite gasket, then check the head for warpage, skim it, and bolt it back together.

    Options Other then a MHG..

Factory spec is 58 foot pounds, and is NOT sufficient. We torque to 72 foot pounds and have a lot more sucess.

    Lapping the block?

Surface grinder is perfectly capable of giving you a dead flat surface with a mirror finish. Best of both worlds.
