Once more, it's nice to see that Joel took this idea and ran with it. You folks have NO IDEA how many PM's and emails I was getting every day wondering where this was going before Joel stepped up.
I like people who make the stress in my life go away, and Joel here has done a bigger job of this...
I don't think it can hurt. In the correct order, uncrack the first one, retorque to spec, then move to the next one, and so on until you are finished with the entire order.
The DSM ICs are barely less efficient than our stockers, two of them in parallel shoudl be better than our stocker... Although, for the money, I'd likely just throw a few bucks into buying one of those Spearco replicas from Bigaaron.
Al, the procedure in the TSRM states that you pull the inspection covers, pull the bolts holding the PP to the flywheel, and then pull the tranny out with the PP, fork, and disk all still on there.
We just think that's an awful lot of extra work, so we never do it this way anymore. :)
I have black, white, silver, carbon, and chrome. The carbon and chrome are severely limited quantities - basically you can have one carbon OR one chrome, plus as many of the rest that you want.
No worries at all, Scott. Everyone gets a free blonde moment now and again.
For future reference - next time you pull the tranny, just yank the fork out the side and pull the tranny off, don't bother with unbolting the PP through the access panels.
Max temp really isn't the factor you need to worry about anyhow. The reason heads warp is because people run out of coolant - usually due to excess pressure. Too much pressure will force coolant out of the overflow - lose too much coolant and the temp will climb by a huge amount.
Pressure is...
This is common. The PCV system vents pre-turbo, so any kind of blowby adds oil to the IC piping. In theory, this all gets sucked into the intake, pushed into the cylinders, and burned... but in reality, some of it always sticks around in the piping to make people like you worry. :)
Here, there is a rule where you can charge storage fees for anything past a month... then when those build up enough, you can file against the car for the storage, and get the car title changed into your name.
Can't hurt to go ask. A local shop here has one as well, and the reason it's there is because it's abandoned... the owner didn't want to pay for repairs, so he signed some transfer papers and just walked away from it.
The shop is trying to sell it to cover the cost of the parts / labor that...
LOL - Ian, that's seriously funny because it is also how I got started researching cooling properties. It's also how I discoverd what galvanic corrosion is... I used an aluminum / copper water block and a steel radiator. Didn't last very long, as you can imagine. :)
I'm more concerned with a pretty way to modify the cosole so that a touch screen looks like it came there stock. I have a spare console, and I've spent a fair bit of time looking at it... no idea what I am going to do yet.
I've considered getting one custom made by Roy (TTE).
