It's going alright. Slow...school is getting in the way. I have all but the dash out. Contimplating on removing the steering wheel. Not sure if I need to; but, we'll see. I hope to have it done this weekend! Have you done one of these?
Thanks guys! I wasn't second guessing anyone. I just want to be safe. After all, I like my face where it is! :D
Well, I did as instructed and have the glove box out, radio, ebc, gauge cluster, etc...
Does the steering wheel have to come off or is there a way to drop the column down...
Oh, I wasn't questioning you. I was just hoping to get any and ALL pointers possible. Especially regarding the airbag.
Do you agree that disconnecting the battery WILL prevent the airbag from going off?
Good point on the battery. Take it out! :)
Is the heater core accessible from below at all or can you only get to it from the top by pulling the dash out?
Hi Guys!
I have a 91 and want to start on my heater core replacement sometime this week; but, want to make sure I don't damage or cause the air bag to blow in the process. :aigo:
Is disconnecting the battery sufficient?
Any recommendations or pointers on this job?
Sincerely,
Your...
I'm not farmiliar with your boost controller. Does your AVCR Boost Controller have a gain adjustment?
If so, try raising the gain two increments at a time and see if that helps.
EDIT: I had similar issues because of an exhaust leak. Just a thought...
A couple more things.
This is a 91. Do I have to take any special precautions because of the airbag? (I don't want my face to get blown off)
Also, the airbag light has been on since I've owned the car. Is this something I can fix while I'm in there?
Pressure testing the system is not something I'd thought of yet. Thanks for that!
Man, I just hadn't anticipated it being such a large job. I hate BHG's!!!! :D
HOLY NUTS BOLTS AND OTHER CRAP BATMAN!!! Now I'm REALLY scared!!!
Ok. In thru the nose...out thru the mouth...hold for 4 seconds...ok...now I'm good... :)
I don't see the core there. Is it already out in that pic?
Ok. New info.
I don't know if this changes anything; but, I just figured out that the coolant is dripping in through a vent on the passenger side that is aiming down to the floor. It's just to the right of the center console.
Is this still the heater core or something else?
Thanks for...
Ok. I just thought of something. I have the temperature control set to 65 currently. Does that mean that there is NO coolant passing through the heater core?
If there's nothing passing through the core with it set to 65, then what could it be?
I guess I'm thinking of the good ol chevy...
Thanks for the suggestion; but, I think I'd rather fix it while the weather is half way decent. It'll be turning cold here soon and I won't want to fix it then. Plus, I'll be wanting HEAT!!!!!!! :biglaugh:
Are these extension pipes something I can check without pulling out the dash?
Is there anything else I should check before I remove the dash or while the dash is out?
