Ah. I didn't know that. Sorry... Aaron at DM should know if the OEM rings would work.
But, yeah I saw that either Jetjock or Jdub stated that Total Seal Rings are something to avoid with our engines.
Ok. The ACT XTSS clutch got here a couple of weeks ago. It's not going in quite yet; but, soon. I have other things to sort out first. I am currently updating my intercooler and piping. I will also be converting to Speed Density at that time also.
Stay tuned for some custom intercooler...
A lot of reliable power can be made on stock internals with the proper tune.
But if you're rebuilding, it only makes sense to build for more power. Not HUGE power necessarily...just more power.
It's been said in this thread and echo'd by folks in the other recent piston thread......if you...
Are you sure you're not just seeing the tail end of the car switching to open loop?
The afr's will be lean (14-15.5) then when the ECU switches, it'll go rich. This transition is pretty quick; but, maybe what you're seeing is the tail end of that switch...?
He's on this forum and his handle is JMBSupra. I would suggest sending him a PM. He's a machinist so he knows metal!
He said that after a closer comparison between the NPR's and the Stock pistons, he feels that the stock ones are better. He based this on the fact that the casts are better...
What wideband is that? It's sweep is either slower or more stable...? My AEM bounces around quite a bit faster than that. I see you're playing it safe with your afr's too. ;)
What turbo is that...the SP61?
Suuuuwwweeeet vids by the way.... :)
^Good question that I would like to see answered also.
As far as the Forged NPR Piston, my buddy just pulled his 7MGTE engine apart because of run-ability issues and four of the six pistons had failed. If I remember right...Two were cracked between the rings and the other two were...
Thanks for the background info! Upgrades are nice when we can afford them. Otherwise, just keeping an MKIII running will keep us smiling! :)
If you can spring for them, a set of ARP's will do you well.
Good luck with your repair!
Hopefully you mean water meth! ;)
I also have the SP61GT; but, it's not installed yet. Is it a slow spooler crisp....what's your take on that turbo?
Suprafanatic: Check out Tekdeus' setup. That may help you decide...
Definitely try to get it out and remove the head only as a last resort. Great suggestions have been given. Vacum...magnet...
If it comes down to pulling the head, I would think that unless it was damaged in some way, you can re-use it. I would re-clean the block and head surfaces and...
So, being that my EGT probe is plumbed post turbo (just below the flange shown in the pic) what is the recommended 'safe' EGT range?
I'm pretty sure it's right around 1150*F at a given WOT pull to 4th gear. Currently, I have no lean issues. She's at around 10.8 for now.
I didn't drive my car to work today; but, when I get home, I'll post my vac on idle fp and make any needed adjustments per the TSRM.
I read so many posts where folks were adjusting their fp to this or that and wanted to be clear on the subject.
Great info so far... Thanks!
I’ve been doing a little research on fuel pressure and need some clearification. This is how I understand it; but, please correct me as needed…
The stock fuel pressure regulator is 1:1 in relation to fuel and boost. Stock fuel pressure is at ~37 psi with a stock boost of ~6.5 psi. So, for...
