The nice thing about time-serts is they are removable with a reverse thread extraction tool (EZ out) and a new insert can be installed.
The main thing that sold it for me is that it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to screw...
No, helicoil isn't strong enough (and has other issues). Helicoil makes an insert for sparkplugs, but it leaves too much to chance.

Buy it, use it, don't even have to worry about it again. I've had to do it myself and I'll tell you what, the new threads are much more durable...
