Friday after work I stopped by a local Hydraulic and picked up some goodies.
I then modified the stock oil cooler bracket to accommodate the oil thermostat. This worked out quite well.
With the additional parts, I was able to start routing hose...
And here's the oil thermostat...
Well, it's in the same location as the stock one. It's hangs down a bit more. I agree with the 55 mph rock scenario; but, I figure if the stock cooler has survived for 19 years, hopefully this one will last a good while. Some sort of screen mesh is a good idea though. I'll ponder that...
Man carter...what a rip... Sorry to see that. It seems that you've got a fairly good attitude about it. My hat's off to you for that!
I wish I had a tail light to send you...
Good luck man!
Thanks guys! The cooler is a 16 row and the dimensions are 11x4.75x2. It does hang a little low for my liking; but, should be ok. There's a little bit more room for a wider core there; but, then you'd be fighting fitment of the fittings.
All and all, as long as a rock doesn't puncture...
This post is dedicated to Ryan and Ron! :biglaugh:
My oil cooler arrived today. So, with the other parts that arrived this week I'm able to get started mounting the cooler. Note the Oil Thermostat, Oil Cooler, and two 180* AN fittings.
Here's the first bracket. It's secured with blue...
Yeah...with all that's going on with Toyota, distribution has slowed. That's what I was told anyway...
I know the ISC isn't necessary; but, I'm not ready to delete it yet. Not until everything is running correctly. Then maybe.
Yeah, marriage will do that to a Supra. Don't give in...
He he...yeah Ron...He meant to post here. He's in fairly close proximity to me. He's got this ongoing problem that seems unsolvable at this point. We're going to try to get three or four under his hood here pretty soon so he can make it to our next Meet that is coming up here pretty quick...
Hey Brad! Why did you up wastegate pressure to 14psi?
Unless you’re headed north of 25psi, I’d put the wastegate back to 10psi and let your boost controller do the work. If that’s not an option, try 12psi. Maybe your limiter can manage that better than 14.
The garden liner is a Honduh thing. At least that's where I first saw/heard of it. I've seen a number of Forrester guys do it too.
I must say though...of all that I've seen, this one looks the best. Nice job on making it look like it didn't come out of the Home Depot Garden section. :)
Something else to consider is that you were likely getting cooler air (and more of it) while driving as opposed to being on the dyno.
Were there any fans running?
Oh yeah. They're there. I was thinking of fabbing up a trap door of sorts to access the filter.
Any headway with your car? Centralia is coming quick!!!!!
Since we're venturing off topic here, I have forgotten to plug my Powerstroke in when it was ~14* and she still fired right up.
For around 10 seconds, it sounded like 8 little men with ball peen hammers inside my engine though. ;)
