is it necessary to run a thermostat in-line with an oil cooler setup?

I have a mixture of both in my system. I will say that the AN barb fittings are MUCH harder to get the hose on to so judging by that, I would say that the AN barb fittings would hold better. That's just a guess of course...

is it necessary to run a thermostat in-line with an oil cooler setup?

That's what I'm using is the Aeroquip Push-Lock hose. $70 bucks for 20' from Summit. I am however using hose barb fittings. Some brass and some AN. Everything has been double secured with the wormgear clamps that utilize a sleeve as to not cut/mar the hose when tightened. The clamps are...

is it necessary to run a thermostat in-line with an oil cooler setup?

$400-$500?!?! I'm no where near that in my setup. Using standard brass push on fittings instead of AN fittings where you can will save you big bucks. AN fittings are pricey!

Ok. Here is the unveiling of the valve covers. They're not 100% done. I'm going to work on the tops a little bit more then put them on. I'm undecided whether to leave the ribs black or re-polish them. Anyone have an opinion...? Excuse the fingerprints by the way... ;)

So, was there ever a report on Shaftmaster's 2-Piece DS? Did Suprahero report back? I went to Shaftmaster's website; but, it only shows the Aluminum 1 Piecers...

I'm just guessing on the $400. What are you waiting for....build that Front Face son!!!! :biglaugh: One of the reasons I chose to put the filter where I did was because I didn't want to drill into the body. That's just me... Yeah, I would say that your money would be better spent on other...

I didn't have the manifold honed. I bought it that way. This one was done my Stillen Racing. From what I hear, they have only done very few of them. Less than 10... I haven't gotten past the 'thinking' stage of the trap door idea yet. I'm not a huge fan of cutting up the factory...

My hose finally arrived from Toyota yesterday so I was able to start getting my new intake manifold ready. This manifold matches the lower runners in that it has also been Extrude Honed. The pictures really don't do this piece justice; but, it looks REALLY nice. Inside and out!!

Eh...it's all good carter. I just had to razz ya a bit! :biglaugh: No oil line clearance problems at all. I am using all push-on...push-lock...type hose. I just made sure that the bend radius of my hose was 6" or less and haven't had a problem at all.

To get the old paint off, I used paint stripper in a spray can. I don't remember the brand; but, I got it at Wally-World. Polishing is a LOT of work! Which is why I am only polishing the tops. ;) Also, there's a bit of work in keeping that shine! If I were to do it over again, I would not...

Hey Carter...where have you been buddy!?!? The motor is in!! :D Yep, I agree. I will certainly have a leveler for the next pull. An update on my hose situation. After conferring with some of my race buddies and through recommendations here on SM, I am NOT going to run the hose I recently...

Will this hose work for my oil system?

I went to a local Hydraulics Shop and told them that I am dealing with an automotive, low pressure, ~225* peak oil temp application. They sold me this hose: http://www.goodyearep.com/productsdetail.aspx?id=1414&terms=insta-grip It is rated for 250psi and 190*. Given that the hose won't...

No, that was a chain binder that I used to level the engine. Basically, it was my "Ghetto" leveler because I'm too cheap to go buy a real one! :D

The oil cooler came from CX Racing. They're fairly inexpensive through them. If a guy were to be a little patient, he could find a really nice Fluidyne or Setrab in the right dimensions on ebay. At the moment.....I can't be that patient... :biglaugh:

I don't know the IC dimensions. It's the Spearco style one from Driftmotion. It is small enough that the stock oil cooler doesn't have to be relocated. The hose...yeah...it's rated for 250 PSI; but, only 190* nominal operating temp. They assured me that it'll handle more. I'm sure it will...
