In theory we should just be able to measure the resistance on a stock headlight and put in something similar. Unless I'm smoking the crack again, which at this time of night is possible...

Really rough, and smoking white like a mofo... = Blown Head Gasket. Or what MK3Brent said, they are pretty much the same thing. If you blew the gasket via detonation from running lean, you might have toasted pistons as well. Not that I'm talking from personal experience or anything here...

Unlikely in the extreme. Try switching your bulbs, see if the failure is the wiring or the bulb.

Flush headlights on a Mk3 Supra will give you light that's bad enough you can't really drive after dark. It's been done a few times, and nobody has managed to make it work nicely yet.

There is a HAC on all models. Pre-89 has an external sensor that is mounted underneath the glove box. 89+ models have one internal to the ECU.
