The only thing I can think of that the 92 has that the 89 doesn't is an airbag... But I've never seen the airbag harness, so I can't say that's what it is.
I suspect that getting near 400 out of a Supra will need hardpipes and a new intercooler as well. I'd absolutely get some fuel bits - fuel lines & and AFPR, depending on the stock stuff is going to be chancy.
You might be able to avoid the fuel pump and injector upgrade this way, but the only...
Well, you could consider it obvious, I guess.
It's not a Toyota part. I'd suggest checking out your local generic auto parts shop for something similar.
Tell you what. I'll buy a house. You buy a car. ANY car.
We'll get together in 50 years, see who has made more money on their investment. Loser buys lunch.
The key is that picking a car that will appreciate in value is like the stock market - it's a crapshoot. If you know what you are...
I'd go the helicoil + 7/16" exhaust stud upgrade route, I think Aaron from driftmotion sells those.
Make certain you get the head tested for hardness first - lots of extreme heat cycles tends to make them soft, and you don't want to pour money into a head that's softened.
Might as well get the...
Get JE rings to match the JE pistons. Get new oil pump drive shaft bearings as well, chances are you'll have to get those from the dealer. Oh, and you'll need the timing belt backplate cover gaskets, I don't think they are in the Toyota kit. :( They weren't in mine, anyway.
I'd pick up a CPS...
Good business, actually, but it won't last, they'll have the supra bits up there REALLY fast. And chances are they'll deny everyone after the first customer.
That's the place. :) I seem to recall the price range being ~$2k installed and tuned, but call him and check, don't take my word for it. It's been at least 6 months since I talked to anyone about it.
There's a fair number of guys up here running the microtech units, mostly because there is a shop that installs and tunes them for a reasonable price.
They seem to work well - Don is pushing a crapload of power through one, and everyone seems to get more power from it than they do with the...
There are lots of guys putting over 400rwhp on the W58 - but you would have to frequent the Mk2 forums to find them.
If that will hold your goals, stick with it.
It would help if you posted pictures, instead of a link to a site that you must be logged into in order to see anything. I refuse to help fuel myspace madness.
Those must be crank numbers. I'd want bigger than 550s to run mid 500rwhp levels. Admittedly, 1000s are way overboard.
I'm sure I've read about members with 660cc injectors that managed to tune a decent idle. I'm not so sure I've ever seen 720cc or higher do the same thing.
