12 post now and I am the only one who offered any real help??? You guys crack me up. Even though his question is a little on the newb side, why can't you just help the guy out a little??
Don't think of it in terms of how big a turbo, think in terms of how much HP. On a good condition stock 7m that has had all the regular whoes sorted out, a solid 400 to 450 hp can be done with all stock internals on a normal basis with a good tune. A small aftermarket turbo, or upgraded ct is...
I used a felpro gasket on a few motors with good results. 425 rwhp with arp head bolts and ran for many years with no problems. The heads had been decked, the blocks cleaned and check for flatness only. One of the motors saw over 200 passes at the 1/4 mile with no BHG. I think the felpro with...
I installed 2 or 3 sets in the last month into 7m heads, they are tight like everyone says but will fit. A little harder to get the retainer down also since they are a touch taller unsprung. Heed Downward and IJ's warning about scratching the spring, wrap your pliers with rubber or use soft...
Toyota does not nitrite the crank. There is no nitrite layer to lose when grinding a factory crank. A stock factory crank is induction heated by flame on the rod journals. Grinding a stock crank will not weaken the hardness, it is a forged steel crank and has the same hardness all the way...
Don't worry about that, my only point is that the mk3 crowd is small, but a tight group. Several members have their own section in the "Authorized Vendor" forum. These guys work hard to make products, or sell products for our cars. If we don't support them first with our money, then priceless...
I don't see any problem with 8500 with limited use. Long, high hanging revs, like in road course racing, I would not recomend. I would send the crank out for nitrite treatment or mellanite treatment to run those rpms however.
If you swap your gte pistons into the GE block, you will have to machine the ge block to match the GTE pistons. Even if it is just a hone. GTE and GE blocks use different piston to wall clearance. So to use the ge block, you are looking at a bore or hone to begine with, which means dissassembly...
So is chrome, polished turbo comp. covers, most braided hoses, powder coating, and just about any other bling under the hood. Its all a waste of money. But everyone still does it, so why not buy a good belt for 70 bucks.
The snout is brand new on this crank, the crank pully had come loose, so the snout was welded and ground down to oem again. The key ways are fresh and brand new.
This crank is fully machined and straighter than they are when new. Rods are all std size, mains are .25m under. Had to grind...
