Brad has been working under the impression that there's no such thing as 'too fast' in relation to spool. I suspect that may not be true, but I'll admit I'm more than happy to let him be the guinea pig on this one.
Guessing in advance isn't the way to choose the gasket thickness.
Get the head and block machined, have the machinist tell you how much was taken off, add this to the thickness of a stock gasket to calculate how thick of a gasket you need.
Then order a gasket.
Depends. How much material was taken off the block / head? Was it exactly equal to the 1.5mm?
Personally, I tend to go high on the HG thickness rather than low, but to each their own.
I'll also mention that I'd use an HKS gasket over any other type out there. Greddy? Meh. Titan = Cometic, and I wasn't impressed with them, either.
I'm not an HKS fanboy, either, it just seems to have held together better than anything else I've tried.
Love it! Mk2's are still the best looking Supra ever made. Funny how modern car designs are moving back towards that style again - few curves and hard corners. :D
Engine bay and interior pics?
You'll only need the one Walbro pump to feed those 550s, so don't worry about that.
WhtMa71 is dead on when it comes to brands... HKS makes some fine stuff, no doubt about it, but their air filter is not one of them. For instance, the HKS FCON and AIC are decent parts - but they've long since...
HKS Super Mega Flow Reloaded Kit? Is that the air filter? If so, cancel it. Pick up an AEM Dryflow instead.
Buy a boost controller after the intake and exhaust are done. Before you get the fuel upgrade kit. :) Get a real boost gauge while you're at it.
When you upgrade the fuel - pump...
Furthermore, sometimes you just need to walk away for a day. I've had many cases of fighting with a bolt for hours, the frustration level starts to build up, and it's just time to walk.
Come back the next day feeling refreshed and it's suddenly easy.
Not enough room in there to swing a hammer, that's for sure. If you can find the right length in extensions you might be able to brace it against the frame rail...
You could *try* to pull the oil lines from the bottom of the turbo instead, but that's tough to do.
Worst case, you can always...
That bolt should be pretty easy to just tear the head off, it's a hollow bolt. If that happens, you'll be pulling the rest out of the block with vice grips!
The bolt extractor sockets should get a good enough grip to tear it out, though.
27? That's pretty much perfect. Girls are smoking hot at 27, and they've usually grown out of the phase where they are attracted to dumbass men that treat 'em like shit.
Hell, lots of girls don't really start to attract attention until they are past the early twenties - my wife was average...
You know, I should have known that. My speedo cable popped off the back of the cluster once, years back, and my cruise control stopped working. I was on a long trip, and it was annoying enough I had to stop and fix it.
Must be getting slow in the head in my old age. :D
Thanks for the...
There are three - two nuts and a bolt. The two nuts hold on the oil return line - the fat one. The bolt holds on the oil feed line, and goes through a banjo fitting on the slender one.
I've always pulled this from the top. Pull off all the heat shields you can, pull off the turbo braces...
