The solid lifter design was Toyota's most advanced setup at the time, or at least, it was the simplest way to get the job done properly. The 4A-G, 3S-G, 1JZ, 2JZ, etc all use this design. It works very well. The 5M and 6M used hydraulic lifters, with separate cam boxes, just like the new 2010...

There are quite a few Toyotas that used clutch-pack LSD's to this day, as well as Torsens. As for the newer 06+ IS, I don't believe any of them came with an LSD (I know the 2010 IS-F has a Torsen diff, but I haven't confirmed the size, it is probably too large). I will check more at work...

Yes, but I thought we were only talking about the LSD portion of it. I never mentioned actually using the IS300 ring & pinion in the Supra. In any case, you are correct. Jeff

Yes, all IS300 LSD diffs are the same, auto or manual. You just want to make sure you are actually getting an LSD. Jeff

Doing a 4A-G(of any variety) swap will be SOOO much easier than any 3S swap. Jeff

I will check in a bit, there aren't many sensors that are different. You'll need an 89 ECU though. Jeff

From what I've seen, sunroofs are not rare on 92's. It actually seems like most are either targa or sunroof. Not very many are plain hardtops. Jeff

All MK3 Turbos had LSD rear, and a lot of N/A's had LSD rear. In Canada, even all N/A's had LSD. LSD = not rare. Jeff
