    Have a friend push the clutch in while you look at the harmonic damper. Does it move? Even the slightest bit? Can you see any wear marks on the timng cover right behind the harmonic damper? What pressure plate do you have?

    great stuff hottscennessey, that helps put it into perspective how much it can hurt with out full control of the ecu for tuning. What % to af ratio where you running? you said it was a large amount, im guessing 20-30%?

    ptb shouldnt be an issue with a piggy back as you should not be able to affect the af ratios and subsequently timing when its in closed loop (Assuming the throttle percentages are setup correctly and any low throttle map is zeroed).

    the ecu will adjust for closed loop assuming fuel pressure isnt to high and its within the ecus's control range. If they go outside of the range (to rich or to lean) it will throw a code or should. for open loop, it cant. However you can lower fuel pressure to get it into a decent range.
