Mainly on the HY35s HX35s and HX40s you look for the metal tag. Most holsets you find with have an internal wastegate its just that picture doesn't show one.
If you can't tell just post a picture of it in the turbocharger section and we can tell if it is or not.

From my experiences the JZ series of motors are much smoother then the M series of motors. Then if you want to go even to a newer I-6 the newer BMW motors are even smoother running then M or JZ series.
Ever look at an compressor map and wonder why the HE351 has a shaft speed sensor? Like on a GT35r the efficiency is best around 110500 rpm. So if you can keep the turbo in its efficiency range and keep the shaft at that rpm you will get the best flow. So really has nothing to do with MAP...
